hi - nyc (manhattan) resident. interested in people’s opinions of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] vs. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for a baby boy. Last name begins with a T but I personally do not see this as a concern if i go with a double T first name ending considering it does not impact the initials. I am actually somewhat biased towards [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] vs. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] as I think it is more balanced and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] starts to look odd after a couple seconds (to me). So [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] T. is up for strong consideration. Thoughts?!
I personally prefer the [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] spelling
I completely agree with you about [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] looking more balanced, it’s my favorite spelling of the name for that reason. I thought I was alone in the thinking [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] looked off! Anyhow, my vote goes towards [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
I agree, I like the spelling of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] more. I wouldn’t worry about your last name either.
My name is [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. I’ve found that in my life the spelling with a double T is more common when it’s a surname. At least that’s my experience living in Australia.
I do agree that visually [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] looks more pleasing though. It’s a strange feeling seeing the name spelled either way becoming more popular after only meeting less that half a dozen people with the name in my 30+ years.
I prefer [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], but this is also the spelling all of the people I know with this name use.
The extra t just looks unnecessary to me, and I think all the vertical lines start running together
One of my boys has the middle name of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
thanks! closed
