[name_f]Do[/name_f] y’all prefer the name [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for a boy or girl? Also, what are your thoughts on the name in general?
I don’t like it for either, as I don’t like surnames in general. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for a boy sounds particularly effeminite.
Either. And that’s okay.
I like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. I much prefer it for a boy/man.
I like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for both, actually! I may even slightly prefer it on a girl - something about it seems a little fresher and cooler than the popular [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. Despite the [name_u]Grey[/name_u]'s Anatomy reference, I really love [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] for a little girl! I also think pairing [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] with a feminine middle is a great way to use it for a girl…[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], etc.
I much prefer it on a boy. While I see how it sounds very soft and almost feminine, I just can’t picture it on a girl. All boy to me. As far as my thoughts on the name in general, I think it’s a fine name. Not one I’d use, but it’s nice.
I like it on both but slightly prefer it on a boy. It’s on my list for middle names.
I prefer it for a boy, but I think it would be charming on a girl as well.
It was my brothers name until the doctor asked my parents why they had called their son [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I think it’s a great name for both genders however
I grew up with a boy named [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and nobody ever found it odd. I think it’s unisex.
I love [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]! I first heard it on greys anatomy, so I can definitely picture it on a girl. I do think it’s pretty unisex though, and I maybe slightly prefer it for a boy. I think its soft and sweet, and very handsome!
I really like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] on either gender! The meaning is perfect for any kid.
I think it’s a great name for someone of any gender.
I think it’s perfectly fine for a boy or a girl. Personally, it’s one of my favourite names for a boy, though.
This is one that is totally neutral to me. I’ve heard it on males and females in what seems like equal numbers, but I’m guessing that in recent years it’s probably leaning female as parents look for new ways to get to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I can’t put my finger on why but I don’t really like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. Like [name_u]Hollis[/name_u], it’s a little bit nerdy.
Thank you everyone. You have all been very helpful!
