[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is lovely! I do love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are a bit too close for siblings.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would be my first choice. Second choice would be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].
I worried about elizabeth and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] being too similar but [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is my husbands favorite so I’ve been trying to get over it. Especially since they won’t usually be called elizabeth and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], it will be [name_f]Elli[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] when they are little at least.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] start with the same two letters but they have different sounds. I also believe you need to name your children the names you truly love. They would have to be very, very close for me to not choose a name I love. For example I would avoid [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u] but would use [name_m]Piers[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m].
[name_f]Katharine[/name_f], the others clash way too much.
I voted for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would be my favorite.
I don’t mind the similarities- I think it kind of unifies the names as sisters- because beyond the “[name_f]El[/name_f]” the names sound completely different and are different lengths too; And like you mentioned the nicknames are completely different from one another and what they will be called most of the time. My cousin has daughters called [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]- at first I rolled my eyes, but now that her girls are older they only go by [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]- the fact that their names sound the same is now really cute! At least I think so (that is obviously a much more extreme version than your daughter’s names similarities)
Thanks :). I like the reassurance! I think I’ve been overthinking the name the whole time anyway trying to find something I tbjnk goes well with [name_f]Elli[/name_f]'s name, now I’m trying to tell myself we need to go with the name we love and not obsess over how it sounds with [name_f]Elli[/name_f].
I love all three choices. I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but it sounds great with [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I voted for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] because I thought it had best flow but I love all three.
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] are so bland and overused to me. I know like 10 different [name_f]Katie[/name_f]'s/[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]'s, and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is too old. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] is pretty and not too popular
I think nicknames are something the child should choose. What if [name_f]Eleanore[/name_f] wants to use her full name? I realize it doesn’t matter when she’s a baby, but I think you should pick a name without thinking of nicknames.
We just plan to call her [name_f]Nora[/name_f] if we use [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but we know that could change and obviously when she’s older she can choose what she wants to go by.
We are going with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] since it’s been our favorite from the beginning. I just have to stop second guessing myself for about 7 more weeks wish me luck!
Ha. tight race. I voted for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] because I like its balance with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], and because i felt [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] was too close to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] “[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]”. But [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is actually my favorite combo, and after reading through the thread, I think I could get behind it. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] are adorable together. It’s a bit funny since either one could be [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]'s nickname. but I think if you and your husband love it most, it shouldn’t be a deal breaker. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is also very sweet, it has grown on me exponentially since voting. I’m not sure why i didn’t see it before. No wonder there is a tie. Have you considered [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]?
So I’m ALREADY questioning my decision…I just can’t get ok with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. So we have problems, haha. I think we are just going to start from scratch. Idk why it’s so hard to come up with a name this time. These are our issues: 1. Hubby loves [name_f]Nora[/name_f], only name he’s picked. 2. I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and want to use it bc it’s a family name for both of us. 3. Hubby says no to [name_f]Mary[/name_f] as first name. 4. I say no to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] as first name. 5. Neither of us like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. So we either have to get rid of [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], or both. I feel like we will never find a name we both love.
What is it about [name_f]Nora[/name_f] that your husband likes? Is it the sound or the meaning? Are there other names you like that would include [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a nn? Maybe…
[name_f]Elanor[/name_f] (very close to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], but looks more different—wow, that’s crappy grammar—from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] than [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]IMO[/name_f])
[name_f]Leonor[/name_f]/Lianor
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]/Lianora
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]/Linora
Leonorie/Lianorie
[name_f]Honor[/name_f]/[name_f]Honoria[/name_f]
There are tons of variants of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] here:
Good luck!
In that case I think [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]/[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]/[name_f]Annora[/name_f] would all work!
We started over and made a new list and decided on [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] we both love it!
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is perfection - by itself and with big sister [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. Well done, mom and dad!!
