What do you think of [name]Ellis[/name] as a boys name?
I’m thinking of a middle name rather than first name though… do you think it’s more a girl name?
I like it and it rings “boy” to me all the way. Then again “[name]Elliot[/name]” screams “boy” to me too, but it’s on the rise for girls apparently, so what do I know? It was one of my choices but my fiance was not excited about it.
I know one guy and one young woman who are named [name]Ellis[/name]. I think that it works fine as a boy’s name, though the increasing popularity of “[name]Elle[/name]” names and the nn [name]Ellie[/name] might push it toward the feminine side. If you were to use it for a boy as a first or middle name, I’d suggest you give him another clearly masculine name to help combat any confusion.
[name]Michael[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Franklin[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Adam[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Desmond[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name] [name]Andrew[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name] [name]Matteo[/name]
[name]Ellis[/name] [name]Declan[/name]
There isn’t a much manlier person on earth than Jason Ellis.
I was interested in [name]Elliot[/name] also, as in [name]Elliot[/name] Ness, but thought the nn [name]Elly[/name] would sour me.
I have no idea who [name]Jason[/name] [name]Ellis[/name] but looked it up haha! I’m from UK so maybe that’s why I don’t know, I’m feeling reassured to use it though, which is good. Probably didn’t help that in a book I’m reading the little girl is called [name]Ellis[/name].
I love the name [name]Ellis[/name] for a boy. i think it screams Make name to me.
[name]Even[/name] Ms. [name]Bronte[/name] thought so when she used it as male pseudonym when writing Wuthering Heights.
I’d say it’d be perfectly fine to use it as a first.
[name]Ellis[/name] is definitely a boy name. it sounds fine but it’s not my favorite -is name. I prefer [name]Harris[/name] of [name]Ferris[/name].
i think [name]Ellis[/name] works fine in the middle or first spot.
I love [name]Ellis[/name]. I think it’s the perfect blend of fitting in while standing out! Good luck.
I absolutely love [name]Ellis[/name] and think it’s definitely a boy’s name.
I’ve only run into boys named [name]Ellis[/name] so I consider it a boys’ name.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]! Such a handsome name [name]IMO[/name]
I only of one [name]Ellis[/name] and that’s a 13 year old boy but even if I didn’t know one it is still all boy to me!
I’ve only known girls named [name]Ellis[/name], but I know it’s generally been used for boys. I think it would work best as a mn, just make sure to avoid [name]Perry[/name] as the fn.
According to the SSA stats, in the US [name]Ellis[/name] is unisex but the boys have the high ground. Here are the numbers:
2008
Boys: 274
Girls: 110
2009
Boys: 327
Girls: 124
2010
Boys: 311
Girls: 149
It’s fairly uncommon for either sex. I see it as all boy.
I like it a lot. I prefer [name]Elias[/name], but I do like [name]Ellis[/name] quite a bit. I can see where people see the appeal of it on a girl (similar sound to [name]Alice[/name]/[name]Allison[/name] with the girly nn of [name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name]), but it’s all boy to me. I considered it several years ago, but it’s since fallen off my radar. I do think it’d be a cool MN, though. Maybe [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Ellis[/name] or [name]Grayson[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]?
Good luck!
I think of [name]Ellis[/name] as a boys’ name and I quite like it.
