I had a dream last night where someone suggested this name to me, and I used it for my daughter. I’m kind of falling in love with it. It’s clunky and curious, and it gives me pangs of wanderlust as it is the name of so many small towns in the US. (One of which Mark Twain is buried in-LITERARY POINTS)
I’m wondering, what do you all think of Elmira? Is it too much for a little girl, or could she fit right in with all the Eleanor’s and Edith’s?
and, Could I use Mera as a nickname? I really am NOT fond of Mira.
I’ve never heard of the name [name_f]Elmira[/name_f] before but it’s so beautiful !! I can definitely see her fitting in with her classmates names. Definitely not too much ! I think [name_f]Mera[/name_f] could work but I think most people will initially think it’s [name_f]Mira[/name_f].
[name_f]Elmira[/name_f] is gorgeous! So sweet and whimsical. I don’t think it’s too much for a little girl at all - I’ve heard way more outlandish names used on children.
As for nicknames, [name_f]Mera[/name_f] would definitely work. How are you pronouncing [name_f]Mera[/name_f], compared to [name_f]Mira[/name_f]? In my head they sound the same, but that could just be my accent.
Ooh, [name_f]Elmira[/name_f] is lovely! It’s new to me, but somehow feels familiar? I definitely think it would fit in with the Eleanors and Ediths while having its own distinctive flair. I actually usually like stretch nicknames, but [name_f]Mera[/name_f] bothers me just a tiny bit because it’s so close to a very obvious possibility. I do think it would be misspelled often-ish because of that. I don’t think that matters much though if you love it!
