Elodie?

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], but I’m not sure how the American pronunciation would effect it over the softer [name_m]French[/name_m] one.

Also, does a name like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], which is very clearly [name_m]French[/name_m], even work with names such as [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f]/[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]?

While I think the name is wearable, part of me wonders if realistically it just belongs on our GP list.

I love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]! I pronounce it [name_f]ELL[/name_f]-uh-dee. I am unsure but imagine the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation would be [name_f]El[/name_f]-luh-[name_f]DEE[/name_f]. With extra L’s almost??

I love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and think it goes with [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] etc and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. I think with [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] there is only subtle difference between the [name_m]French[/name_m] and English pronunciations (with more equal emphasis on all the syllables in [name_m]French[/name_m]) that this one crosses languages pretty well.

I like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and it goes with your other names pretty well. You could pronounce it anyway you want, but just reading it I say it like [name_f]ELLE[/name_f]-OH-[name_f]DEE[/name_f].

I know a woman named [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] (she is [name_m]French[/name_m]) and we live in the United States. Everyone pronounces her name as “[name_f]ELL[/name_f]-uh-dee,” although her pronunciation when she introduces herself changes the “uh” to more of an “oh” sound due to her accent.

I do think it fits in quite nicely with the other names you listed, actually.

Same as everyone else in this thread - elle-uh-dee. I’ve seen it as ay-loh-dee and elle-oh-dee as well, though.

It definitely works with the names you listed.

Thanks everyone! I was so shocked that my fiancé liked it as much as I did I had to immediately go looking for problems with the combinations! Not sure we’re sold on [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], which is the combo I have…but we’ll see.
