Eloisa too much of a mouthful?

[name]Hi[/name] - I’ve posted before about the names [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Eloisa[/name] for our little girl due in [name]January[/name]. I got some fantastic feedback, most everyone preferred [name]Eliza[/name]- as do I. My husband, however LOVES [name]Eloisa[/name] and has cast his vote firmly for this name. I love that he feels so strongly about a name and really want to foster a strong connection to our daughter in this way (he’s an amazing father - but he does feel a bit disconnected during pregnancy and newborn-hood). He never responded this strongly to a name with our older daughter ([name]Adelaide[/name]), so I’m thinking that I might agree to [name]Eloisa[/name]. I like the name - could love it maybe - really like the nn [name]Elle[/name] (but NOT [name]Ellie[/name]). Her middle name will be [name]Whitney[/name]. So, I’m asking is [name]Eloisa[/name] [name]Whitney[/name] too much of a mouthful?? [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Ellie[/name] from [name]Eloisa[/name] or [name]Elle[/name] will be inevitable (my daughter has sadly become [name]Addie[/name] despite my dislike…). Also, do you see the name [name]Lois[/name] very prominently in [name]Eloisa[/name]? I know that sounds strange but it kind of bothers me and I’m wondering if others see it too. Thanks so much in advance!!

I think [name]Eloisa[/name] is an adorable name! I’m not crazy about [name]Whitney[/name] though–it sounds alright but seems a tad mismatched. [name]Lois[/name] is not very prominent in the pronunciation, and therefore I don’t think that it would be too noticeable, but it is noticeable in the spelling. I think [name]Ellie[/name] could definitely be a possible nickname, but I think its cute(: If you don’t like [name]Ellie[/name], you could request that people call her [name]Eloisa[/name] though.

[name]Eloisa[/name] is no longer than [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Veronica[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], etc. so I don’t think it’s too much of a mouthful. I do think it could easily end up with a nickname, but it’s not inevitable. A. I think that you could sway everyone toward [name]Elle[/name] (or [name]Lulu[/name] or [name]Isa[/name]) instead of [name]Ellie[/name] (just by using it yourself and mentioning to certain family members how much you hate [name]Ellie[/name]) and B. if you insist on [name]Eloisa[/name], you could probably make it work. I know three Veronicas who go by their full names, so long names don’t have to be shortened.

Until you asked about seeing “[name]Lois[/name]” in the middle, I have never associated or noticed it. While I see it now, I will forget about it in 10 minutes and go back to not seeing “[name]Lois[/name],” so I think in answer to your question, no. I don’t think [name]Lois[/name] is too prominent.

I dont think it’s a mouthful! It’s beautiful! I love [name]Eloise[/name] and I’ve never thought of [name]Eloisa[/name]. I love it!!

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful replies - makes me feel a lot better. Kaylarenae - [name]Whitney[/name] is a very meaningful name for me and non-negotiable, which is another reason why I like letting my husband choose her first name. Is it too mismatched? Our last name is short, one syllable English name if that makes any difference.

I like it, but would be concerned that it looks more like [name]El[/name]- oys-ia. [name]Whitney[/name] [name]Eloisa[/name] is a great name, too!

[name]Both[/name] [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Eloisa[/name] are pretty : ) [name]Eloisa[/name] [name]Whitney[/name] flows nicely, I don’t think it’s a mouthful at all.

I like it just fine!!! : D.

[name]Eloisa[/name] was the runner-up name for this baby before we decided on [name]Ines[/name]. I just love [name]Eloisa[/name]. Someone posted on my thread about it that it is sweet like honey.

Obviously, I don’t think it’s too much of a mouthful (we were looking at names like [name]Eloisa[/name] [name]Beatriz[/name] and [name]Eloisa[/name] [name]Paloma[/name] as possible middles). I never once thought of it having “lois” in it. The nickname I was leaning toward is [name]Isa[/name], but I also like [name]Lola[/name]. (We already have a [name]Lulu[/name], so that’s why we would have done [name]Isa[/name]).

I think it is sweet and pretty, classy and elegant all at once. I like it paired up with [name]Whitney[/name].

I like [name]Eloisa[/name] a lot! I actually prefer it to [name]Eloise[/name]. [name]Eloisa[/name] [name]Whitney[/name] works very nicely, and I like [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Eloisa[/name] much more than [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] as sisters! [name]Don[/name]'t get me wrong, I love [name]Eliza[/name], I have since I was a little girl, but I am really loving [name]Eloisa[/name] here.

Good luck!

I like it! [name]Eloisa[/name] is really pretty!
I pronounce it [name]Elle[/name]-oh-ee-suh so [name]Lois[/name] is not a problem.
My name is [name]Whitney[/name], so I see nothing wrong with it!
If you call her [name]Eloisa[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Lulu[/name] etc then [name]Ellie[/name] shouldn’t be an issue.

Wonderful! Thanks everyone. I think we have a name!?!!

[name]Eloisa[/name] is a Great name! It is not difficult to pronounce. I like [name]Isa[/name] as a nn.

I love the name [name]Eloisa[/name]! I think it goes fine with [name]Whitney[/name]. I guess it depends on the sound of your last name but I think it is beautiful!
