[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and have for years.
But … I don’t love the increase in [name_f]El[/name_f]- names. In my own circle there is an [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
[name_m]Will[/name_m] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] be lumped in with the other [name_f]El[/name_f] names? And I don’t like nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]… is that inevitable to be used?
Thanks for your thoughts! What are good alternatives?
Most people I know called [name_f]Elouise[/name_f] are just known as that or [name_f]Ela[/name_f] or [name_u]Louise[/name_u] / [name_u]Louie[/name_u] It’s completely fine as it has a different sound to it and you can always use nicknames too, most names have nicknames anyway so I think it’d be fine to use
I like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! I know one who goes by Elo sometimes.
It does strike me as one of those “[name_f]El[/name_f]- names”. Alternatives could be Ev- names. Like [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. Or drop the E, so [name_f]Lois[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. Or [name_m]Al[/name_m]- names like Aloise, [name_f]Aloisa[/name_f]? Is that a name?
Eloise is great!
I don’t like the increase in -el names too, but I also dislike heartily most of them.
Eloise and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] are to me different in that they are old, established names and they don’t all sound alike.
Somehow [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] doesn’t seem as likely to be nnd [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Heloise[/name_f]. [name_f]Eluned[/name_f]. [name_f]Enid[/name_f]. [name_f]Etoile[/name_f]. [name_f]Etude[/name_f]. [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. I even love Celoise, a name I made up.
I love Elo and [name_u]Lou[/name_u] as nicknames for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
I don’t personally lump it in with the other [name_f]El[/name_f]- names. It feels different to me somehow. I would never call an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], but that might just be me bc I don’t like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] either so it doesn’t even come to mind.
I know an [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] who goes exclusively by [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] - I think it’s pretty and distinct:)
Nope. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is great.
