Elora

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]

I just came across the name [name_f]Elora[/name_f] on nameberry. I really like it. [name_f]Elora[/name_f] combines any [name_f]El[/name_f] name, I love names beginning with the [name_f]El[/name_f] sound and one of my all time favourite names [name_f]Laura[/name_f] but spelt [name_f]Lora[/name_f].

What do you think of [name_f]Elora[/name_f] as a baby name?
Is [name_f]Elora[/name_f] a classic name or a modern invention?
What style would you say [name_f]Elora[/name_f] is?
What is the overall feel of the [name_f]Elora[/name_f] to you?
Would you use the name [name_f]Elora[/name_f] for a baby?
Is the name [name_f]Lora[/name_f] better than [name_f]Elora[/name_f]?

Thanks for answering any of my questions.

It’s a beautiful, unique choice!

I like [name_f]Elora[/name_f] better than [name_f]Lora[/name_f]. It makes me think of a comic book character or something but i can’t think of the reference.

To answer your questions:

What do you think of [name_f]Elora[/name_f] as a baby name? - I like [name_f]Elora[/name_f]. I prefer the Hebrew [name_f]Eliora[/name_f], but I have used [name_f]Elora[/name_f] as a name for a character.

Is [name_f]Elora[/name_f] a classic name or a modern invention? - I’m not sure on the actual etymology, but it came into the public spotlight because of the movie [name_f]Willow[/name_f], where the baby is named [name_f]Elora[/name_f] Danan.

What style would you say [name_f]Elora[/name_f] is? - I don’t really get “style” for names as a whole. But, I would say it sounds very sweet and soft.

What is the overall feel of the [name_f]Elora[/name_f] to you? - [name_f]Elora[/name_f] is a name I would expect a very [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f]-type person to have. It has a short but sweet flow, it’s very memorable and poetic, and it gives me images of sweet peas, gilyflowers, and forget-me-nots.

Would you use the name [name_f]Elora[/name_f] for a baby? - I can’t say I would be opposed to using it on my own baby, but I do prefer similar names like [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] and Eluria.

Is the name [name_f]Lora[/name_f] better than [name_f]Elora[/name_f]? - As I don’t really care for the name [name_f]Lora[/name_f] (I like the spelling [name_f]Laura[/name_f] better) I do like [name_f]Elora[/name_f] waaay better.

@greeneyes375 hits the nail on the head in the pp. I love the name [name_f]Elora[/name_f]! Sweet and bright, gentle but strong. I immediately think of the movie [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and the trilogy of books that came out after ([name_f]Shadow[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f], [name_f]Shadow[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f], [name_f]Shadow[/name_f] [name_f]Star[/name_f]) about teenage [name_f]Elora[/name_f]. I have this name pegged as a middle name for daughter #2, someday.

I have a friend who just named her baby [name_f]Elora[/name_f], and I have a 4 1/2 y/o student Ellora (named after caves in [name_f]India[/name_f] - mom teaches yoga) who is one of the most gentle children I’ve ever met.

I love [name_f]Elora[/name_f]! I think it would be a marvelous choice. I’m not sure if it’s classic or modern, but I don’t personally care either way. It feels timeless and elegant to me. It gives me “princess” vibes. I actually wrote a story once where the queen’s name was [name_f]Elora[/name_f], and it fit quite well.

I have personally considered using the name, yes. But I have weird associations with the name [name_f]Laura[/name_f] now so I probably wouldn’t. I find the name [name_f]Elora[/name_f] to be much more beautiful than [name_f]Lora[/name_f].
