Elsa/Elsie, a love/hate name

I”m intrigued by the reaction to the name [name]Elsa[/name]/[name]Elsie[/name]. I love this as a variation of [name]Elizabeth[/name], but it seems as though many strongly dislike it. I”m 30 and do not associate it in any way with a cow. Is that lingering still for younger folks, do you think? [name]Do[/name] you like or hate this name? Why?

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Elsa[/name]. My best friend is going to name her daughter [name]Elsa[/name]. Gorgeous and unique.

I’m actually in the middle. I don’t hate it, there’s nothing wrong with it, but I definitely don’t like it. I’m younger than you and I associate it with the cow. Plus the only one I know is in her 90’s. But the main reson I don’t like it is because it has a very clunky, awkward sound to me- like [name]Norma[/name] or [name]Gertrude[/name]. But [name]Matilda[/name] has the same awkward sound to me and people seem to like that, so I guess it’s just a matter of taste.

[name]Elsa[/name] – gorgeous!!

I absolutely [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Elsa[/name]! (I’m 23 if that helps you out)

I really love both names! I adore [name]Elsie[/name], but I don’t think that ages well. However, [name]Elsie[/name] could be a nn for [name]Elsa[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name]! I’m 21 if that is any help. If any name makes me think of a cow, it’s [name]Annabelle[/name], not [name]Elsa[/name]!

[name]Elsa[/name] I like. It does make me think a little bit of the lioness [name]Elsa[/name] that was featured in some documentary I saw as a kid. [name]Elsie[/name] does make me think of a cow. I’m 33 if that makes any difference…

I love [name]Elsa[/name] nn [name]Elsie[/name] but I wouldn’t use [name]Elsie[/name] on its own. It’s a bit too nick namey and old lady for me but I think [name]Elsa[/name] is definitely due a comeback!

I am 30 also, and I think [name]Elsa[/name] and [name]Elsie[/name] are beautiful! I tried getting DH to go with either, but he wasn’t on board. When I said [name]Elsa[/name] to my mom she also associated it with the cow! But it isn’t their child to decide. If you love it, go with it!

Oh, the best advice I can give… don’t share your names with your family. There are some names that we loved and then when we told our family, their reactions changed our decision.

I really like [name]Elsa[/name]/[name]Elsie[/name]. I’m 21, so there isn’t any cow reference in it for me.

I don’t like [name]Elsie[/name] because my mom’s name is [name]Elise[/name], and she got [name]Elsie[/name] a ton.

[name]Elsa[/name] though - I think of [name]Indiana[/name] [name]Jones[/name] III, and I like that name.

I’m 22 and completely unaware of the cow reference. I love the nn [name]Elsie[/name], it is so sweet and vintage and more distictive than the popular [name]Ellie[/name].

I dont like [name]Elsa[/name] or [name]Elsie[/name], but I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] is pretty.

I associate [name]Elsa[/name] with the lion in the movie [name]Born[/name] [name]Free[/name], rather than with a cow. But I still like it! I also like the name Kelsa.
