Elsie or Esther

My husband and I are expecting our first baby, currently 31wks pregnant and trying to sort out names. We know we’re having a little girl and are slowly getting a short list of names that we both like. I love the name [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and my husband likes [name_f]Esther[/name_f] which I quite like too. Would love to hear your thoughts on both names

Possible middle names to go with them:
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]

Other names we really like:
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is my favorite of your combos in question. I think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is a cool middle name for a girl, but with [name_f]Esther[/name_f] it sounds a bit like Estroven, an OTC perimenopause relief pill.

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is so cute but it seems quite juvenile in comparison to [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. Disregarding that, I do like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f].

From your other names [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is absolutely adorable.

My favorite combo is [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] equally.

I like [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] but not [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] (I’m not a big fan of -ie/-y names, so I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Molly[/name_f] either). I love [name_f]Esther[/name_f]! [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] could work. Other suggestions:

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] a lot, that’s the winner for me! (I also love the nn [name_f]Estie[/name_f]).

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is an adorable nickname, but I would give my child a longer given name and call her [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. (Probably [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], which I’m obviously a fan of :)) As an adult, she might not like to be [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] in all situations, it would be nice to give her the option of using a more formal name.

I prefer [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is gorgeous!

[name_f]Esther[/name_f]. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] sounds too juvenile.

I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]! Very cute but works on older people too - I had a great aunt called [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and the name suited her down to the ground.

Although you didnt list ot with your combos, I like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. I also think the following could work as middle names: [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] , [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_u]Jean[/name_u], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].

Thanks everyone. My great nan’s name was [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] that’s why I am so in love with it but when my husband mentioned [name_f]Esther[/name_f] I thought that was awesome too and now don’t know which one to go with, haha. I do like the nn [name_f]Esti[/name_f] as well, I think that’s super cute.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] would be my choice. It’s stunning.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] for sure!

You do also have the nn possibility of [name_f]Essie[/name_f] with [name_f]Esther[/name_f], which almost feels like a half-way point between [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].

I personally prefer [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], and agree with a PP that [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] would be gorgeous.

Your names are lovely, I especially like [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. My other suggestions would be to change up the middles: [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. But my favorite is definitely [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u].
