Elsie Rae Leslie

I need advice!

We have fallen in love with [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Rae[/name] for our little girl, but then have heard that it doesn’t sound great with our last name: [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Leslie[/name]. I don’t think it’s too bad, but I don’t want to cause her to be tormented by her name.
What do you think?

To be honest I don’t really like it.

FYI this thread was started twice. In the other I suggested [name]Elsie[/name]-[name]Rae[/name] and a hyphenated name would help get rid of the rhyminess of the name. And is still very cute.

I don’t think that [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] flows well at all, unfortunately. It’s pretty awkward. Perhaps you could use [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Rae[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] and use [name]Elsie[/name] as a nickname?

I see the problem. It’s something of a tongue twister. But I wouldn’t let that stop you from using it, because it can still be said clearly–seriously, no matter what people tell you, “[name]Elsie[/name] [name]Leslie[/name]” is NOT that complicated to say. Other options to consider: Hyphenate the two names to be a joint first name: [name]Elsie[/name]-[name]Rae[/name] [name]Leslie[/name]; OR, use [name]Elspeth[/name] or [name]Elisabeth[/name] for her full name, and use [name]Elsie[/name] as her nickname.

I think, unfortunately, you need to nix it entirely. The entire name rhymes (there is literally one letter difference between the first and last name). I wouldn’t pick any first name ending with a -ie or -y sound.

I think [name]Elsa[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] could work, but then [name]Elsa[/name] [name]Rae[/name] wouldn’t be my first pick.

Quite a dilemma! I agree that [name]Elsie[/name] Lesie isn’t the best option, and even hyphenated [name]Elsie[/name]-[name]Rae[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] still sticks in my mouth a bit when I say it. I second the suggestions of @nono and @alzora who like [name]Elisabeth[/name] or [name]Elspeth[/name], nn. [name]Elsie[/name]. And like @tk. mentioned, [name]Elsa[/name] [name]Rae[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] is also nice, and doens’t have the rhymey-ness that [name]Elsie[/name] [name]Ray[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] does. Good luck!

I don’t like it either! It’s way too rhymey. What about [name]Elsa[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] or [name]Elspeth[/name] [name]Leslie[/name] and then you could sometimes call her [name]Elsie[/name]?
