Elsie?

Crushing on the name [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] at the moment… but is it nicer just as it is or as a nickname for a longer more formal name like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]? Any other suggestions for full names that lend to the nickname [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]?

Thanks in advance! x

Yes!!! I’m crushing on [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] too rn! It’s so pretty! I think I would only use it as a nn.

I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]! Unfortunately, it’s not usable for me but I think it is so sweet. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is my favorite full name for [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] so much! So sweet and spunky. I definitely think it could work on its own. Also love the suggestion of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]!! I think it can totally stand alone!! [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] could be another fullname or even [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Elissa[/name_f] or [name_f]Elswyth[/name_f]

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is cute! I had it as a nickname for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] on my list, but [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] would be more obvious for sure. Some other EL-names with S in them could work too, I think: [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] or [name_f]Iselle[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Selene[/name_f]…

Ooh, [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is so sweet! I think it can stand on its own, especially paired with a substantial middle. If you prefer to use it as a nickname, I really the previous suggestions of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I think pretty much any [name_f]El[/name_f]- name could work ([name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], etc.), even if they might not be quite as obvious as the names that actually have an “s” sound in them ([name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], etc.). I like @mirais’s idea of using -elle ending names, too, if you’re willing to stretch a little! Or even using L-C initials and getting [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] from that!

I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]! I prefer it as a standalone but my favourite full forms would be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]!

I like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] as a standalone

I like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] by itself in all honesty. I’ve actually heard this name IRL, and I thought it was the sweetest thing ever! Very soft and charming.

I think it works better as a nickname, it feels a bit insubstantial/fluffy as a stand-alone first.

I think [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] works either way – standalone, or as a nickname. Personally, I really like [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], so that would be my go to for nickname [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].

If interested, a few less obvious options [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] could work well as nickname for: [name_f]Elestren[/name_f], [name_f]Elsinore[/name_f], [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f], [name_f]Elska[/name_f] & Elisende.

I had a relative who was named [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. It stands alone just fine.

Thanks all, I quite like the suggestion [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]… although I’ve previously thought the name was a little outdated. It’s a thinker!

Certainly pairing [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] with a strong middle such as [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are beautiful!

Definitely can stand alone! I do think it would be an adorable nn for [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f], though.
