Okay, I know my naming style doesn’t jive with many, and that is okay. I tend to like names that are unisex, trendy, and I don’t mind non-traditional spellings. So, I have narrowed the list to three. I would like opinions on which goes best with the siblings and which name ages best.
None of your names are my style and I’m not a fan of kre8tif spellings. Incorrect spellings seem forever juvenile to me and don’t age well. [name]Callahan[/name] is the only one that’s spelled correctly. It’s a tad too surnamey and similar to [name]Camden[/name] and [name]Kason[/name]. Embree just looks like two sounds smooshed together. [name]Emersyn[/name] is just bad and I don’t understand why people think changing the spelling somehow makes a boys name more feminine. I’m going to have to go with [name]Callahan[/name]. At least you can call her [name]Calla[/name] for a nn.
Embree, [name]Callahan[/name], [name]Emersyn[/name]… hm… I am not a fan of unisex names generally, but the only one of these three I really dislike is [name]Callahan[/name]. Embree is fine, though I would spell it [name]Embry[/name] or Embrie. [name]Emersyn[/name] is also fine, but I would spell it [name]Emerson[/name].
I don’t much like your style of names, but I think [name]Emersyn[/name] is too close to [name]Kason[/name]. I Think [name]Callahan[/name] would be best because it has the girly nickname [name]Callie[/name] or [name]Calla[/name] which you can use. Embree just looks like the nicknames [name]Em[/name] and [name]Bree[/name] put together, I don’t like it.
Embree [name]Ruth[/name] - I agree with pp about it sounding like two sounds squash together. It just doesn’t feel like a name to me. I much prefer something along the lines of [name]Ember[/name].
[name]Emersyn[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] - Honestly, I feel that the original [name]Emerson[/name] has a more feminine and grownup vibe than [name]Emersyn[/name]. [name]Emery[/name] might be a good compromise between the sound of [name]Emerson[/name] and the spelling [name]Emersyn[/name].
[name]Callahan[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] - I can’t imagine any child being named [name]Callahan[/name]; nothing comes up. I like the nickname potential of [name]Calla[/name], but I prefer [name]Callaway[/name] as a way to get it.
On a more positive note, [name]Ruth[/name] is a lovely middle name choice!
I share your enthusiasm for unisex names but, unfortunately, not for kreigh8tyv spellings. I pretty much agree with tay2thestar’s sentiments:
I’m kinda puzzled over why some people think Y is a feminine letter. It’s being used after long vowel A’s and in place of O’s and I’s for tons of boys’ names as well. Oh well. [name]Just[/name] remember that creative spellings tend to not age well (in other people’s eyes) and look less professional/grownup, and I always think that if you’re going to give a kid a bit more hassle with them having to correct other people assuming it’s the established spelling, it should be done for a more meaningful reason than trendiness. But that’s just my two cents.
[name]Emerson[/name]/[name]Emersyn[/name] is definitely my favorite, but [name]Kason[/name] is too similar for a sibling. So, like tay2thestar said, names like [name]Emery[/name], and also [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Everly[/name], [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Ellery[/name], or [name]Ember[/name] could work as a compromise.
I guess I’ll vote for [name]Callahan[/name] since it has the lovely nicknames of [name]Calla[/name] and [name]Callie[/name]. I actually know a female [name]Callahan[/name] who goes by [name]Callie[/name].
I’m leaning towards a name ending in an ‘n’ to match your other kids’ names. Emerson would be OK, but the spelling Emersyn isn’t aesthetically pleasing. I don’t think any of them are quite right, but of your choices, I’d pick Callahan. The nn Calla is nice.
What about:
Tamsin
Teagan
Thomasin
Callan - this is much better with your sibset
Gillian
Sullivan
Saffron
Payton
Auden
Sutton
Ashton
Aisling/Ashlyn
Hayden
Logan
I like [name]Embry[/name] the best, but not spelled Embree. It will be a headache for her and like some else mentioned, just seems forever juvenile. I cannot stand any girl names that include the word “son,” even if [name]Emersyn[/name] is spelled wrong, it still has the word in it. [name]Callahan[/name] is butch [name]IMO[/name].
