I pronounce it “[name_f]EM[/name_f]-uh-leen”, and I’m dramatically in favour of the [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] spelling. It’s amazing what a difference one less M can make: [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is affected and unnatural to me, while [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] is magical.
I prefer the [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] spelling. I’m from the Midwest US and I have always pronounced it [name_f]EM[/name_f]-eh-leen, which is what I prefer. I have met one little girl with this name who spelled it [name_f]Emaline[/name_f] and pronounced it with the -line ending. She was my youngest sister’s best friend at summer camp two years ago.
I like the spelling [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] best. I pronounce it “[name_f]Emma[/name_f]-line.” My cousin’s middle name is [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], but she pronouces it “[name_f]Emma[/name_f]-lynn.”
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] for sure! I pronounce it [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]-[name_f]Line[/name_f]
I’m pretty sure that [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is more popular but it’s the spelling that I prefer! [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] just looks incomplete to me personally. I say “emma-line” and it’s the only pronunciation that I like. I’m from the east coast of [name_u]America[/name_u] somewhat close to the DC area, and I don’t think that that affects how I say it. I’d probably still say it that way regardless because I’m just not a fan of how “lynn” or “leen” sounds at all. I’ve never met an [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
I prefer the spelling ‘[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]’, and I think it is more popular than [name_f]Emeline[/name_f]. I don’t know any [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]’s. I pronounce it [name_f]Em[/name_f]-muh-leen, and I’m from the South of the UK. I didn’t realise there were other pronunciation possibilities, this puts me off, as I dislike the confusion. I also like Emilina, [name_f]Emina[/name_f] & Emmelise.
