Here’s a name I stumbled across on [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Center. Originally spelled “Emel” is Turkish for “[name_f]Desire[/name_f], hope, aspiration”. I know some people might think it’s just a fancy way of spelling “[name_f]Emily[/name_f]”, but we love Emelle as a middle name regardless. Not sure about a FN. Thoughts?
I don’t think it’s usable. It would constantly get mistaken for [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
What about [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] with the nickname Emmel? [name_f]Embeth[/name_f]? [name_f]Maelle[/name_f]?
I’ve met an Emelle - it always felt like a fake name, but it’s still pretty, just not my style.
It would get mistaken as [name_f]Emily[/name_f] but if it’s a middle name then it should be too much of a problem. Most people don’t use their middle name that often.
As a middle name, Emelle is meaningful and lovely
I think it would make a nice middle
Hmm… I actually like it! Something a little different, but still lovely. I would even use it as a first name.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought would have been is it a nickname for [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]? and maybe then the name [name_f]Emeline[/name_f].
Lived with my first name as Emelle for over 30 years now - Beautifully pronounced as “Em-el”. Yes it sucked correcting pronunciation to everyone growing up - to the point I wish I was named [name_f]Emily[/name_f] in 2nd grade… but even more proud of having such a unique name as part of my identity.
