I think this suggestion for Emerett (sp?) got lost in my last thread. A friend just recently suggested it. I am looking for a way to get [name_f]Emme[/name_f] for my third daughter.
Siblings are:
[name_u]Ellison[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
Meh. I’m not sure about Emerett–it seems like a smoosh of [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. I sort of like it on a boy, but I can’t really see it working on a girl. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about just [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]? I know it’s masculine to a lot of people, but I hear rumors that it originated as a variant (diminutive?) of [name_f]Emma[/name_f], thus being feminine. I think [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] nn [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] on a girl would be pretty fab, if you’re adventurous enough to go for it. And [name_u]Ellison[/name_u], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] are pretty cool together, imo.
I love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u], but I’m not a fan of Emerett. It’s very made-up and smushy looking to me. It also reminds me of the word “emirate”, which is pronounced the same way.
For girls I like:
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
I love [name_u]Everett[/name_u] for a boy and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] for a girl, but not Emmrett.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] for a girl and it goes well with her sibs. Also, for a girl I like Emberley(great illustrator of kids drawing books)…
I agree with pp that [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] would be a great way to get to [name_f]Emme[/name_f] and it matches the boyishness of [name_u]Ellison[/name_u]. I don’t really like Emerett, it sounds like amoret to me.
For the love of god, do not name your daughter [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. It’s a boy’s name, and using it on a girl is not only ridiculous and downmarket but in egregiously bad taste.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] or [name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f]? Nicknames are more art than science, so they don’t have to match too closely.
I took one look at the heading and immediately assumed it was for a boy…I really can’t see on a girl. I really like the suggestion of [name_u]Ellison[/name_u] or [name_u]Ellery[/name_u], though.
