Emerson and Addison

I think I already know what many of you will say but I still want to hear opinions. [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Addison[/name_u] (both boys names) are pretty equally loved. I know that technically we all can name or children whatever we want, to a degree, but would having two siblings with a [name_m]SON[/name_m] ending be too much (among at least one, my current son, without a [name_m]SON[/name_m] ending)? I have no issue with siblings sharing a beginning or ending letter. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you personally prefer [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] or [name_u]Addison[/name_u]?

Okay that seemed like a long winded paragraph. lol

People will probably disagree with me, but I personally see [name_u]Addison[/name_u] as more feminine than [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] for some reason.
I also think you shouldn’t have more than one -son name in your sibset.

I do think it is a bit much to have two names ending in “son”, but if you really love a name, you should use it. I personally like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] much more than [name_u]Addison[/name_u]. I agree with vblanch - [name_u]Addison[/name_u] seems feminine to me.

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] for a boy.

I love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]!

Thank you for your opinions.

I think [name_u]Addison[/name_u] is more feminine than [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
So if I had to choose, I’d go with [name_u]Emerson[/name_u].

They both sound feminine to me. All “[name_f]Em[/name_f]” names to me seem so and I know too many “addy”'s with pigtails, but that could just be regional.

If I had to pick one, It would be [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], but I do think more than one -son name is probably too many.

I love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and think it is very handsome for a boy. [name_u]Addison[/name_u] unfortunately feels more like a trendy girl name at this point.

I think two -son names is a bit much in a sibset, but you could always use one as a middle name if you have a third son (obviously [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Addison[/name_u] or vice versa wouldn’t really work.) I prefer [name_u]Emerson[/name_u].

It depends. If you only had an [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Addison[/name_u] it would be too matchy. If you only have three boys and the third doesn’t have a “son” ending he might seem like the odd one out. With four I think only the name nerds would roll their eyes, everyone else wpuld be okay with it. If you had 19 kids like the Duggars and two of them had “son” endings I don’t think anyone would even notice. (Personally I love both names and could easily see them on boys or girls).

Dislike both equally for either sex. I would never use them on a boy since I only know girls with these names. Lots of girl [name_u]Addison[/name_u]'s.

I prefer [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] over [name_u]Addison[/name_u] on a boy
