Emerson for a boy

We are considering Emerson for our baby boy. We know a a few girls named Emerson (Two go by Emmy and one by Remy)…I know its a classic boys name. Would it be fine to use the name and call him by his full name? Two people are coworkers of my husband who works remote. One of the children live in our town. Is it as common as I think or am I overthinking? My only hesitation is to use the name if in 5 years our boy Emerson would be in Kindergarten with 4 girl Emersons :thinking:

  • It’s not that popular, there won’t be 4 other Emersons in his class, regardless of gender. I only (indirectly) know one [name_u]Emerson[/name_u].
  • It’s traditionally a boys’ name.
  • It’s only slightly more popular for girls right now.

[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] isn’t that popular for girls. And it’s not uberly feminine, it still has a usage for boys. I like it!

Like others have said, [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] isn’t too much more popular for girls than it is for boys. I think it works perfectly well on a boy!

I love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] for a boy! I don’t think he’d find any issues with his name being used more on girls than boys as it isn’t that popular.

I hear the name and think boy. Like [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] [name_m]Waldo[/name_m] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] a famous writer.

I think [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] is entirely appropriate for a boy!

I love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], and don’t think it will be too popular. As for being worried that too many girls will share your son’s name I think that [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] is becoming a “true neutral” name. Like [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. No one will think his name is too feminine.
