Emil or Emile

Which spelling do you prefer? And what are your thoughts on this name in general?

[name]Emil[/name] looks more masculine and more correct to me. I don’t love it, but it’s fine. I know a really nice older gentleman with this name, so that’s a positive association.

I knew an [name]Emile[/name]. I never knew if I was pronouncing his name right. I always called him AY-meel. I think I prefer the [name]Emil[/name] spelling, it seems a little more straightforward.

I like [name]Emil[/name]! I think [name]Emile[/name] looks more proper and complete as a FN, but as a MN, I prefer [name]Emil[/name]. [name]Emile[/name] just looks frilly as a MN, for some reason, but [name]Emil[/name] as a FN seems incomplete, if that makes sense? I had [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Emil[/name] on my list a while ago, and still love it, but if I had it switched, I don’t think I would like [name]Emil[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] anywhere near as much. I’ve known a couple Emiles, and it seems like [name]Emile[/name] is always the spelling for a FN.

Good luck!

[name]Emil[/name]. I like it. Reminds me of [name]Ari[/name] somehow, or [name]Eli[/name]… It sounds to me like a seriously bookish, French or maybe Israeli guy with glasses. A quiet, unshowy name, humble but dignified.

My nephew is named [name]Emile[/name], and that’s what he goes by. But his younger brother, [name]Andre[/name], at one time was calling him, a ‘happy meal.’ Ant at first impression he is called [name]Emily[/name] by the teachers. It’s one of those names that seemed neat at the time time but now, maybe not.

I think [name]Emile[/name] looks complete. I love the name but I get tired of hearing that it looks and sounds girly.

[name]Emil[/name] is more obviously masculine. [name]Emile[/name] I would assume was a creative version of [name]Emily[/name]. I do think [name]Emil[/name] both looks and sounds masculine though.
