Emilola

[name_m]Just[/name_m] chatted with someone at work who gave the name Emilola. Not sure on the pronunciation (probably just like it looks) but I think it’s kind of cute, in a way. [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of nn potential ([name_f]Emi[/name_f], Lo, [name_f]Lola[/name_f], etc.) but doesn’t sound too childish or look too “made-up”

What do you think?

Bit of a tongue-twister for me…I have to say it pretty slowly!

Despite the cute nickname potential, personally it’s not my style—feels too [name_f]Renesmee[/name_f]-ish.

It sounds vaguely like a disease to me…

I don’t like it at all, sorry. It looks very made up, and once southern.maple said it sounded like a disease, I won’t be able to think of it any other way, haha.

It sounds like the typical nickname of a old woman in Spain. Like she was named [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] and went by Emilola. (And that happens a lot, trust me)

I’m pretty sure (but I could be wrong) that Emilola is a [name_u]West[/name_u] African name. It certainly shares elements of other [name_u]West[/name_u] African names (Temitope, Abimbola, Olufunmilola, etc). but I can’t seem to find any other background info on it. I don’t hate it, but I don’t really like it either.

Based on what her last name was, that seems plausible. Interesting!

the -ola reminds me of Ebola but im in healthcare so a lot of names have become medicalized lol

I’m against everyone else here…and even myself a bit…but I think it’s kind of adorable.

No, it sounds like [name_m]Emil[/name_m]-LOL(laughing out loud)-a.
