We would like to name our daughter [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] as a nn.
We are looking for help picking a middle name and a preferred spelling for the nn.
Here are our current choices:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but are concerned with the repeated “s” sound next to the last name)
I like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] our of your options. [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is really cute.
I think [name_u]Reese[/name_u] could run into your last name like [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], and [name_u]Marie[/name_u] feel a little “dated” (more early 2000s vibes to them) but they’re still ok to use if you like them.
I love [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]! It’s quite popular in the UK, I know 3-4 girls with [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]/Emmy as their full name, but it’s always a joy to see!
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is my favourite from your list. Some other ideas:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
congratulations!
Emma nn Emmie is lovely. Emmie is my preferred spelling, as it feels (looks) a little more complete and less abrupt.
Of your options, I like Emma/Emmie Grace best, even with your surname. I imagine it’s probably not that big of a deal aloud. I would avoid Emma Marie, as the repeated “ma” sound is awkward - like saying Emory with a slight stutter. Emma Brooke has a lovely flow, but I’m not in love with Brooke. How do you feel about the Brook spelling? To me, it feels a little more modern, and more naturey. Emma Brook is adorable! Paige and Claire aren’t my personal cup of tea, but they both work fine. Emma Claire especially is sweet and pastel.
Since you seem to have a clear vibe with your middles, these might appeal as well:
Emma Rose
Emma Faith
Emma Pearl
Emma Snow
Emma Rae
Emma Faye
Emma Joy
Emma Louise (this has a very similar to Marie to me, but flows better)
Emma Rue
Emma Kate (spunky but sweet at once)
Emma Daisy
Emma Vale
Emma June (I love this for you - it feels so gentle and flourishing)
Emma Fleur
Emma Jean
Emma Fawn
Emma Brynn
Emma Lark
Emma Jade
Emma Greer (like Grace, but without the troublesome end sound!)
Emma Bloom
Emma Sage
Emma Sky(e) (I prefer without the e, but Skye is more common as a name - this feels like a slightly more modern version of Brook(e))
Emma [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is my favorite of these!
I like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but as a klutzy kid I often heard [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as a sarcastic nickname (usually from dads, so this is probably a grandpa joke by now). Maybe another virtue middle name instead if you really like [name_f]Grace[/name_f]?
Emma [name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
Emma nn [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]/Emmy is so sweet! [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] are my favourites. What about [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]?
I actually love the sleek modern [name_u]Reese[/name_u] paired with cute classic [name_f]Emma[/name_f] – I think they balance each other out in a surprising but cool way.
I also like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but these definitely feel more “expected” as combos, and with such a popular first name it might be nice to use a more distinctive middle.
What about [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u]/Blaire? [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Greer[/name_u]/Grier? [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]? [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]?
Emma [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is my favorite of your options – it’s sophisticated and sweet. But I do agree that it is rather expected. That’s not a bad thing, but I definitely second [name_u]Blair[/name_u]/Blaire for something a little different, if you’re interested.
I personally prefer the [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] spelling for the nn, but either works well.
Emma [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is nice. I prefer the [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] spelling
Emma [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (could give you [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]), [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] came to mind
