We are having our third baby, this one a girl! What do you think of [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Gail[/name] nn [name]Emme[/name]? Nickname not necessary but probably unavoidable. She will be sister to [name]Jonas[/name] [name]Robert[/name] and [name]David[/name] [name]Lawson[/name]. Opinions and sggestions welcome! Last name [name]Kelly[/name]. Thanks!
I like “[name]Emme[/name] [name]Gail[/name]” better than [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Gail[/name]. It is reminiscent of [name]Abigail[/name] (abby gail), but updated. I think the name goes great with [name]Jonas[/name] [name]Robert[/name] and [name]David[/name] [name]Lawson[/name].
Something to consider however, if she’s not going by [name]Emme[/name] [name]Gail[/name] but only by [name]Emme[/name] is [name]Emme[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] sounds too matchy matchy. This is avoided by calling her [name]Emme[/name] [name]Gail[/name].
I like it a lot!! (It’s true, if she uses a nickname, [name]Emmie[/name] wouldn’t work with the surname [name]Kelly[/name]… but [name]Emma[/name] would be fine. ) Congratulations on your baby girl!
I go by [name]Lori[/name] so I know about matchy matchy! It’s not a big deal. She may not even end up wth a nn. [name]Just[/name] while she’s small we could likely end up using that some. I’m not a huge fan of nn’s anyways. I just understand they happen! Any other suggestions? [name]Emme[/name] [name]Gail[/name] isn’t appealing to me.
Are you pronouncing it emma-line or emma-leen? Possible nicknames could be: [name]Lina[/name] (line-a or leena), [name]Em[/name], [name]Mel[/name], [name]Mellie[/name], [name]Mina[/name], even [name]Ellie[/name]…
It’s pn [name]Emma[/name]-line. I do like [name]Mina[/name] though! It’s cute but sthg that would not end up sticking. Our boys have weird little nn’s but they still go by their real name. Now I don’t know if this is the name b/c hbby said he would rather pn it [name]Emma[/name]-lynn (drop the e). I just don’t like that as much. It loses it’s southern sound!

I actually really love [name]Gail[/name] in the middle! I think it has a very simlpe and sweet appeal; sort of along the lines of the name [name]Eve[/name].
I do like [name]Emmeline[/name], and I also like the flow of [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Gail[/name], but I don’t love it . . . it just sounds a bit plain somehow, and the uber-common [name]Emme[/name]/a nn only adds to that.
I do love [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Gail[/name], though (nn [name]Eve[/name]). [name]Eve[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is very glamorous!
Sounds good to me - we have an [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Rhapsody[/name], and I think with the flow-y [name]Emmeline[/name], it’s hard to come up with a mn that doesn’t sound like a full stop, or maybe a touch awkward when said with a last name. Does [name]Gail[/name] have a significance to you? I like how short it is. Our poor kid - I hope she marries into a short last name.
Also, nick name wise. [name]Emmeline[/name] goes by [name]Emmeline[/name] only. It’s not that hard. Only people over 65 seem to like to shorten it. I’ll rarely put [name]Emme[/name] in an email if I’m in a hurry, but we call her Miss E a lot. Or stinker, or funny girl or a zillion other nicknames that come with a baby/toddler. (our current favorite is Monkey Bones)
I just recently heard and fell in love with the name [name]Emmeline[/name], great choice! [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Gail[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] is adorable.
Thank you all! I love the feedback. Now I’m starting to think the hubby may not be liking it anymore! This is the first name we have both agreed on. It was not my first choice but it hs grown on me. I was worried about the whole “[name]Emma[/name]” dilemma at first. I know, however, if we insist [name]Emmeline[/name] is her name, that will be what she is called. At first, I loved [name]Annelise[/name] and hubby hated it. I also like [name]Eloise[/name] (sorta), [name]Elodie[/name] (but too flowy with our last name), [name]Hazel[/name] (still love it, hubby of course hates it!), [name]Elise[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name]… that’s all I can think of at the moment. Hubby’s faes are [name]Jillian[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Lily[/name]… names like that. Our tastes are completely different! Maybe your ladies comments will nudge him!
