I like the name [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], but my husband thinks she would always be correcting people that it’s not ‘[name_f]Emily[/name_f]’. What do you think? Would love to hear from any Emmelines out there!
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is a gorgeous name! And even if she is mistaken, it’s the kind of thing she’d correct once and that’d be it
I adore [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] ([name_f]LINE[/name_f] pronunciation). I do not think people would confuse it with [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] so, people in your daughter’s life would learn very quickly that it is [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and not [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. Strangers can get the simplest names wrong. Either ignore them (they are strangers, you do not need to explain anything to them) or kindly correct them.
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (I pronounce it emma-LEEN) and, while it’s similar to [name_f]Emily[/name_f], I wouldn’t worry about it. The N sound is pretty well pronounced, at least when I say it. It’s such a gorgeous name!
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]! It’s not my favorite girls’ name now, but it was about 8-10 years ago. In all the times I’ve talked to my family about liking [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (it hasn’t been a lot lately, but I used to talk about it all the time), no one ever thought I was saying [name_f]Emily[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilie[/name_f]. Plus, [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (and [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f]) are both in the top 1000 in the US now, and her familiarity is growing. I expect the [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Emily[/name_f] issue to be less and less of an issue every year.
Good luck!
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] with the -leen pronunciation. I think it’s possible some people would mishear it as [name_f]Emily[/name_f] if they weren’t really listening, but I think it’d be easy enough to correct.
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (line) and I don’t think it’s going to be mistaken for [name_f]Emily[/name_f] too often.
