[name_u]Love[/name_u] this name. I pronounce it [name_f]Em[/name_f]-eh-leen, as it is french. I do think it’s a bit too close for a sibling already named [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. Since [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is longer than [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] I feel like people would be more likely use nicknames for her and use [name_f]Em[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmy[/name_f] which is already taken by your son. They may use [name_f]Emma[/name_f] but still way too close to your son’s nns. I think something like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] would be a better alternative.
While nms, this is a very beautiful and elegant name, a wonderful spin on the ultra-popular [name_f]Emily[/name_f]! I pronounce it em-eh-line. I do think it sounds too similar to [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]…I like the previous posters suggestion of [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]?
I wouldn’t know whether to say [name_f]LINE[/name_f] or LEEN. I would guess [name_f]LINE[/name_f] while hoping it was supposed to be LEEN. I wouldn’t use it alongside a brother [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], though.
Eh-meh-leen
I also think it’s too close to [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. If you do insist on [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] then the nickname should be something different like Melie. Have you considered [name_f]Melina[/name_f]?
I would pronounce it “em-eh-line”, with the same ending as [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. I’m a big fan of the name, not least because of its associations [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] Pankhurst
I would say em-uh-leen too. I do find it too close to [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] though, sorry. What about [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]? I’ve always associated the two as they have a similar sound and feel to me. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] would work.
