I like it enough to be a stand alone name, however I feel like most [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]/Emme’s are a nickname for something longer and that may cause confusion down the line.

I’m a huge proponent of naming your child what you are actually going to call them though. It’s just in this case I’m not so sure.

Are there any [name_f]Em[/name_f] names you like and would consider using as a longer name to get to [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]? If you don’t like any and just like [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] then go for it as a stand alone.

I love it as a nn! It’s so cute. I definitely would spell it [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], but any of the others would work except [name_f]Emme[/name_f]. The [name_f]Emme[/name_f] spelling makes me want to pronounce it just like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], not like [name_f]Emmy[/name_f].

I was coming here to comment exactly what @12queen said!
[name_f]Emmy[/name_f] as a standalone name works - [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] does too but something about [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] makes it a bit more professional? Maybe that’s just because I know an adult [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] and a child [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]
I don’t love [name_f]Emme[/name_f] (would want to say it like M), [name_f]Emmi[/name_f], [name_f]Emy[/name_f], or [name_f]Emi[/name_f] as stand-alone names.

Emme feels like a stand-alone name whereas [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]/Emmy looks like it is a nickname, IMO. I know people aren’t as familiar with the [name_f]Emme[/name_f] spelling but when it is said when she is introduced, then people know and I don’t think it should be a concern. [name_f]Emme[/name_f] looks more sophisticated to me.

I know a little girl called [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] (not sure what spelling she uses) but it has always just sounded like a nn to me. Maybe it’s just me but [name_f]My[/name_f] nn growing up was [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] so I just can’t see it as a first name. I also think it sounds a little babyish but I might be the only one who thinks that. If u love the name go for it tho

I plan to use [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] as a nickname. I don’t think it works as a standalone name. There are so many ways to get to it too…[name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], Emmelina, [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]…

I love [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]! It’s cute but versatile

I love it as a standalone! It was a top contender for our first daughter.
I think [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] is the best full name spelling that will create less confusion. But I agree with pp that [name_f]Emme[/name_f] looks more sophisticated, more “french”
