My husband and I cannot come up with a name for this baby. I thought we had it figured out and he sprung it on me that he no longer likes the name that we had chosen. He now wants to go with something more traditional.
Our original name was Paisyn [name]Grace[/name], which to me is new very uncommon but modern. He wants [name]Sophie[/name] but I think of it more as a nickname and would rather [name]Sophia[/name] but it is very popular right now What do you think?
Honestly? [name]Sophia[/name], while popular, blows Paisyn out of the water. Paisyn looks masculine and the Y is awkward. What about [name]Piper[/name]? [name]Penelope[/name]? [name]Petra[/name]? [name]Poppy[/name]?
I agree with this. As for [name]Sophia[/name], popularity turns me right off to a name, and it sounds like you may feel the same way. My recommendation is, if you’re not into [name]Sophia[/name] and he’s not into Paisyn, to find a third option that you both love.
I love Paisyn (though prefer spelling [name]Payson[/name])! [name]Sophie[/name] is far too common and she’ll end up being like the [name]Lauren[/name]'s or [name]Jessica[/name]'s of my generation – I currently work with 4 laurens and 6 jessicas and we call they by last name instead :-/
[name]Sophie[/name] / [name]Sophia[/name] may be popular, but they’re also classic and won’t feel dated in 20 years. That’s definitely a plus. You could always do something like [name]Seraphina[/name] and call her [name]Sophie[/name]. Of course, your hubby might not see [name]Seraphina[/name] as traditional.
Some suggestions:
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Gracia[/name] (sort of a spin on [name]Grace[/name])
[name]Sophie[/name] can stand on its own, very sweet. I also quite like [name]Sylvie[/name], maybe another option for you. If you like Paiyson maybe you’d like [name]Peyton[/name].
I’m not completely sure of what your style is, so I’ll just give you a list of random suggestions. Also, if you want my opinion please don’t go with Paisyn (very werid and trendy looking to me) or [name]Sophie[/name] (a cute name but so over-used!).
[name]Mara[/name]
[name]Paisley[/name]
[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Gabrielle[/name]
[name]Gabriella[/name]
[name]Ella[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name] (a boys name to most people but I saw it on a girl and thought it was so cute)
[name]Brooke[/name]
[name]Bailey[/name]
[name]Lilah[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Madelyn[/name]
[name]Presley[/name]
[name]Posy[/name]
[name]Pari[/name]
What about Saphia? The stress is on the first syllable rather than the second like [name]Sophia[/name].
There’s also [name]Saffron[/name] (Saffie is cute) and [name]Salome[/name] which are nice.
