i need opinions on the names [name]Eponine[/name] and Illyria
do you like them?
any good middles that go well with them ?
right now i like [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Kirrily[/name]
what do you think ?
Well as you can see from my signature, I love Ilyria - but I think it could be troublesome pronunciation-wise, so I like it better for the middle spot
“And what should I do in Illyria? My brother he is in Elysium”
I’m not too fond of [name]Eponine[/name], for some reason, it brings to mind a busty, larger built woman with an attitude, despite the [name]Les[/name] Miserables character. [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Kirrily[/name] rhymes too much for my taste, perhaps something like [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Willow[/name], [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Iris[/name], [name]Eponine[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Fern[/name], or [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Louisa[/name].
Illyria is alright, if I’m pronouncing it right. It seems like it would be a better name for a country than a baby though. For middle names…Illyria [name]Kirrily[/name] (I think this flows better), Illyria [name]Rachelle[/name], Illyria [name]Charlotte[/name], Illyria [name]Aspen[/name], Illyria [name]Opal[/name], Illyria [name]Laurel[/name] or Illyria [name]Bay[/name].
This is so strange! I was just in a debacle about a perfect twin name for [name]Hadley[/name] and had both [name]Eponine[/name] and [name]Kirrily[/name] high up on my list! I really like [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Kirrily[/name]. Illyria is nice, but the first part, Ill is throwing me off. I really do like [name]Eponine[/name] though!
My daughter’s name is Ilyria [name]Renee[/name] [name]Rebekah[/name]. We dropped one of the L’s because we didn’t like the “Ill” look. [name]Love[/name] it! Most people really adore the name, once we tell them how to pronounce it.
[name]Eponine[/name] was made up by [name]Victor[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] as an example of a ‘trashy’ name like [name]Nevaeh[/name] would be today. He’d probably screw his face up if people suggested using it.
I don’t know where people get it from, that monsieur [name]Hugo[/name] made Éponine up. Éponine is a frenchified version of the name Epponina which most likely derived from Epona. Epona is the name of a Gaulish and Brythonic horse [name]Goddess[/name]. Epponina was a wife of an arisocratic Gaul, a very loyal and brave woman. They were the object of several French historical painters.
Illyria is beautiful. I like [name]Eponine[/name] too.
I love the [name]Les[/name] Mis connection that [name]Eponine[/name] has and because of that, I love the name. I do not, however, think it would work well on a real child. I would reserve it for the middle name spot. I don’t like [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Kirrily[/name], the styles are much too different.
I love Illyria! I also like the similar Allira.
Like both names, but different middle should be necessary. [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and Illyria [name]June[/name], [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Clea[/name] and Illyria [name]Odette[/name], [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Gaia[/name] and Illyria [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Eponine[/name] [name]Azalea[/name] and Illyria [name]Cass[/name]…
This exactly. Honestly I’m getting a little tired of saying this. [name]Victor[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] expressly states that [name]Eponine[/name] was chosen by Mme. Thenadier because she read too many trashy romance novels and referred to [name]Eponine[/name] and her sister Azelma as “poor things” because of the names they’d been given. Given the literature of that time period, he was probably referring to the “erotic” novels that were popular at the time, so [name]Eponine[/name] was meant to be the 29th century equivalent of a stripper name. If you still like the name, fine, but I would assume that the parents of an [name]Eponine[/name] had never read the book.
I think Illyria is very pretty.
Illyria is great! [name]Eponine[/name] is okay, but just okay.
