What do y’all think about [name]Ernest[/name]? It’s a favorite of mine because of the play, but I feel like a kid would get picked on.
I don’t think [name]Earnest[/name] is bad but I really dislike [name]Ernie[/name]… [name]Ernst[/name] might be a little better. I think it would make a great middle name!
“There’s something in the name that seems to inspire confidence”. Yes, I like [name]Ernest[/name] and the [name]Oscar[/name] Wilde connection too. I don’t think it has huge teasing potential.
No. Its terrible… It screams throw me head first into a garbage can to his future classmates… [name]Ernie[/name] is not better… [name]Bert[/name] and [name]Ernie[/name]… Seriously I would hate my parents [name]FOREVER[/name]
I go to high school with an [name]Ernest[/name]. He never gets picked on.
I think with new naming trends an [name]Ernest[/name] would be pretty safe at school, look at all the ‘old people’ names getting a new lease of life…why not [name]Ernest[/name]?
The play is a charming association.
[name]Ernst[/name] is a lovely variation if you’re happy to go very Germanic.
I love the play too, but it also has this connection to me, so I think it’s not usable.
You can’t possibly be any older than ten.
Honestly, I have no idea how it would wear on a boy today. It really depends on where you live and what names are popular in your area. If you live in an area where the babies are [name]Henry[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], and [name]Theodore[/name], it’s wearable. If you live in an area where the babies are [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Jackson[/name], and [name]Lily[/name]… not so much.
I love [name]Ernest[/name], particularly as a middle. I don’t think it’s too teaseworthy, though.
I like the [name]Ernest[/name] [name]Hemingway[/name] connection
I like [name]Ernest[/name], especially as a middle name (I’d like it more as a first if it had more nicknames than just [name]Ernie[/name]). I think young [name]Ernest[/name] would do well in an area with similarly named children, but would stand out quite a bit in a neighborhood of Jaydens and Brynlees.
I associate this name with the “[name]Ernest[/name] goes to…” movies as well. However, these movies are getting old and I doubt any little kids would make that immediate association for teasing.
This is not a name I would choose, but if you love it then go for it!
I adore [name]Ernest[/name]! It’s everything I love in a name: classic, handsome, and literary.
