Erraid

I squealed with excitement when I heard the name of the 13 year old Para-Sport Medalist. What does everyone think? I can’t find any data on the database so does anyone know the meaning etc.?

I googled it. It’s the name of a Scottish island and means ‘tidal island’, (Old Gaelic name: Arthraigh). According to Wikipedia.

So it’s an unconventional place-name name.

I absolutely love her she is so cute!
I think her name is really interesting as well - lots of names of Scottish islands are used as names, maybe Erraid could be the next [name_f]Isla[/name_f]? It would be a cool name to use if you had ties to that part of [name_f]Scotland[/name_f]!

Pretty cute. I honestly thought it was a boys name before I opened the post though.

[name_m]How[/name_m] is it said? [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was like [name_f]Air[/name_f]-Raid, but that cannot be right?

From what I heard from the commentators it’s ‘EH-rayd’, the ‘eh’ is that short sharp noise in ‘pet’ and ‘get’ etc. The ‘raid’ part is fairly soft.

@chellemma1 Yes. It could especially as she has been in the news a lot. It has brought the name to the forefront of our minds.

@s_dimples I though the commentators were saying it like Herod without the h but I like the way @renrose suggested much better.

Sorry for the late replies. I have been at the Games myself.

Ooh what did you see? Was it amazing?
