My last baby would’ve been a [name]Cordelia[/name] if he was a girl! I think it’s so underused. We were going to go with [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]June[/name] but maybe you oughtta go with a multi-syllable middle name if your last name has one syllable. Suggestions;
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Jasmine[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] - I think the alliteration is a love or hate thing
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Jasmine[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]
I also like [name]Esme[/name] but I like [name]Cordelia[/name] a whole lot better. I think [name]Esme[/name] would be misspelled/mispronounced a lot more too. And I’m a sucker for pretty much all of [name]Cordelia[/name]'s nicknames ([name]Cora[/name], [name]Delia[/name], [name]Cori[/name], [name]Dell[/name], [name]Deli[/name], [name]Lia[/name])
I voted for [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. [name]Esme[/name] is growing on me lately and I really like [name]Josephine[/name] as a middle name. I find it hard to picture the name [name]Cordelia[/name] on a child, but that’s just my personal opinion.
[name]Esme[/name] is my favorite of the two, but since [name]Esme[/name] is a French name I have to point out that [name]Esme[/name] is the masculine spelling. Esmée [name]Josephine[/name] would be lovely.
I love both [name]Cordelia[/name] combos! I like the sound of [name]Marie[/name] better but I think [name]Josephine[/name] would flow better, especially with a short last name.
[name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is a gorgeous combo! [name]Cordelia[/name] is a fine Shakespearean name but it’s a little too ultrafeminine and frilly for my taste.
I voted [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. I would have loved to see [name]Esme[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name], though.
I like [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] better as siblings, but I like [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] best in general, so that’s why it got my vote.
Good luck!
I voted for [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], but [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] wasn’t far behind! Definitely choose [name]Josephine[/name] as a middle, not [name]Marie[/name]. [name]Marie[/name] is so overdone.
i voted [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. I love the combo and I especially love [name]Cordelia[/name]. We named our daughter [name]Cordelia[/name] (born last [name]June[/name]). [name]Esme[/name] is pretty too, but I prefer the sound of [name]Cordelia[/name] - plus there are a ton of nicknames you can use.
Thank you all so much for your input. I’m really torn between [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. The polls are so close. Please keep voting berries!
I voted [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] because [name]Esme[/name] is one of my mega name crushes at the moment and I think it goes much better with [name]Josephine[/name].
I like both names, but I prefer [name]Cordelia[/name] with [name]Josephine[/name] as a middle name. It has a bit of spunk.
[name]Esme[/name] [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. I’ve never liked the name [name]Josephine[/name], it reminds me of a girl from school!
[name]Esme[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] are two of my favorites! My husband wouldn’t go for either, so congrats!
Have you considered [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Esme[/name] or [name]Esme[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name]? I think they work great together.
I picked [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] because I love that combination the best, but I would have a hard time choosing between [name]Esme[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name].
Good luck! Your daughter will be fortunate to have such a lovely name, regardless which you choose.
Tough choice, but I would pick [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. [name]Marie[/name] is lovely, but a bit overdone as a mn. [name]How[/name] about [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]/[name]May[/name] or [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Esme[/name]?
I love [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]!!!
Top choice by far!!!
I think for [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Maria[/name] is a bit to grounded and [name]Josephine[/name] a bit too long. I love the name but it really needs a soft and light middle name to help round it out. [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]June[/name] or Coredlia [name]Wren[/name] would be more to my liking.
I voted for [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Marie[/name] because [name]Cordelia[/name] is one of my favorites and I can’t believe it’s not more popular and also because the flow of [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Marie[/name] sounded best to my ear with a one-syllable last name. BUT now that I see that you have decided on [name]Josephine[/name] in the middle … I think I would change my vote (if I could) to [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. I just think [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is a bit heavy with a one-syllable last name and [name]Esme[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is really very beautiful. Although I argue all the time that this is NOT a good reason to avoid names like this, I can’t help but think of Twilight when I hear [name]Esme[/name]. Hopefully that will change if more people start using it for their little girls!
Thanks so much for all the input! I’d prefer [name]Josephine[/name] as a mn bc it’s my grandmother’s name and my mom’s mn. My husband is pretty close with my grandma and wanted to use it for a first name but I prefer to honour people with mns and give my kids their own first name.
I agree with [name]Marie[/name] being overdone as a mn. I chose it hesitantly as its also a family name and I love [name]Cordelia[/name] but worry that [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is too heavy.
The Twilight thing with [name]Esme[/name] doesn’t bother me as there are some great names in there and I don’t think the series should get to hijack them (ex [name]Edward[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Emmett[/name] etc).
Please keep all the wonderful input and suggestions coming! I love [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Esme[/name]. I can’t decide! Thanks!!
