Esme or Eloise?

Which do you prefer and why?
What are the connotations you have for each?

I really like both names and you won’t go wrong with either, but I love, love [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. For me, it has more of a sophisticated vibe and is further down the popularity charts so it is the one I would choose

Definitely [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. It’s a sweet, lovely name to me while I am an odd berry who doesn’t get the appeal of [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]. I like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]/[name_f]Louise[/name_f], but [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is nms.

This is a tough one. I think they are both quite lovely. I do know that where I live [name_f]Esme[/name_f] would have issues with people mispronouncing her name, whereas [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] would not.

I think the tie breaker for me would be the entire name with middles. You honestly cannot go wrong with either name though.

I agree with pp about [name_f]Esme[/name_f]- I think it sounds more sophisticated and lovely. I think it would work well at all ages
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] sounds very cutesy to me, but it’s only because I associate it with [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] at the Plaza.

I prefer [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], to me it sounds fuller. However, [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is lovely as well, you really couldn’t go wrong. It would come down to how the middle name sounds with either.

I prefer [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and have loved it for years. However, after attending a wedding recently where five babies had names beginning with E, including [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f], I have been put off somewhat :(.

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is okay but I personally really like [name_f]Esme[/name_f]!

100% [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]! I do not see the appeal of [name_f]Esme[/name_f].

I like both, but I love [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. It’s so sophisticated and vintage without being old-ladyish. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

Definitely [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] as well but there is something about [name_f]Esme[/name_f] that is just so lovely, very classy and sophisticated.

[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is cute, but I can’t stand [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. I have a really negative association with someone with that name. To me it sounds pretentious.

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] for sure. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] seems so outdated to me.

I prefer [name_f]Esme[/name_f] just because [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] has always sounded a little too fancy for me not sure why just never liked the name.
