I had completely forgotten about my love of this name, always dismissing it as too frilly, too long, too “out there” etc but is it really?? Could it really be used in the real world or is it too much? What would you pair with such an elaborate name? Would you have it in the first name spot or if you feel it could be usuable, is it better suited to the middle spot?
I really like [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f], and I think it’s completely usable as a first or middle. It does have a good deal of drama to it, but also some fun, brightness and adventure too. If it’s really too much, there are nickname options, although I prefer it in full for the most part. I think there are plenty of names that fit well with [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f], I was just thinking [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] gives me a similar feel, and is pretty normal haha. My combo is quite out there, but some simpler ones:
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f]/[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] (or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f])
I don’t think [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] is a name that’s considered “out there”. I had a classmate named [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] back in middle school and I thought she wore the name very well and never once did I think it was “too much” of a name. I believe it is still a usable name. I would pair it with a shorter name just because [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] is bit on the longer side.
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Dorrit[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] is beautiful. My daughter is Hispanic and when I was looking for a name to match her heritage, this was high on our list. I am one that would match it whatever middle you happen to like it with, I personally do not feel like friliness and being over the top is such a bad thing if that is your taste.
I think [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] is gorgeous! It’s a gp of mine, but I don’t think it’s unusable. I love the previous suggestion of [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] – [name_f]Claire[/name_f] balances it nicely. [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] are also beautiful combos.
I actually know an [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]. She’s an old friend of my mother’s. She is Hispanic, and she wears it well with a cute nn. So, yes, it’s definitely usable in the real world:)
Hello!
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] is actually on my current name-list. It’s funny, because a few years back I considered it a guilty pleasure name, because I also thought that the name was too frilly and excessive to use on a child. Now, after seeing so many four syllable names, such as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] being used, I think it is more than acceptable to use [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]. I have always loved the name, because growing up I was a big fan of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the character of [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] (voiced by [name_f]Demi[/name_f] [name_m]Moore[/name_m]) was beautiful and caring. I also feel like the name [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] sounds somewhat like the word Mesmerising … that’s probably just my far-fetched imagination talking!
It’s a beautiful name and very much usable. (:
