Initial thoughts? [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it?
Thanks!
As the Arabic/Turkish name? [name_m]Esra[/name_m] would be a girl name for me and As-ruh will be close to how I pronounce it.
I would say Ess-ruh, perhaps a feminine form of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]?
Though I know it’s not the case, I always see it as taking the male name [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], changing one letter, and claiming it’s a girls name. I think that’s how most non-name nerds would perceive it. I know it’s a legitimate female name of Turkish origin, but for me it’s just too close to [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
Funnily enough, I love [name_f]Noa[/name_f] despite it being so close to [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. I think if you used it because you love the name, not because you love [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and wanted it on a girl, then I have more credence with it.
The arabic name. It’s our current choice for [name_m]Little[/name_m] Lady due in [name_u]July[/name_u], but DH thinks it will ALWAYS be said as [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
Anybody else?
I agree that it will be said as [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and I think many folk, unless they are familiar with the name, will think it’s just a spelling variation.
