I slightly prefer [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] over [name_f]Stella[/name_f], especially with the other girls’ names, but both are gorgeous. I can understand your husband’s reservations with using [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] “[name_f]Stella[/name_f]”, so perhaps it would be best to just go with [name_f]Stella[/name_f]? I don’t see [name_f]Stella[/name_f] as either super common nor childish, so I think the name would serve her just as well as [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
As far as combos, my thought was [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. It’s a flower name, like her sisters have, and it is similar to [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] but different enough to avoid the [name_u]Steel[/name_u] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] association. Maybe [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]?
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] for sure! Personally I way prefer [name_f]Stella[/name_f] to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], but in your situation it also sounds like your partner is not sold on [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]! It is also totally useable as an adult name in a professional capacity.
I like both [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but I picked [name_u]June[/name_u] because [name_f]Grace[/name_f] does seem to be a bit of a go to as a middle and [name_u]June[/name_u] is a bit more unique.
I think if you plan on calling her [name_f]Stella[/name_f] anyway, and husband isn’t keen, that’s enough reason to nix [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a perfectly mature name on its own and doesn’t sound like it wouldn’t serve her well in life. Of the two options, I prefer [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]'s flow and feel. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is pretty but does kind of feel filler in the middle.
Some MN options for [name_f]Stella[/name_f]:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Orchid[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Clematis[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Tulip[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
And I like pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] a lot.
I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] equally, so I’m not much help there. [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is a lovely combo, but I understand the reservations and agree that it’s probably best to go with [name_f]Stella[/name_f] in your case.
I would, however, make a case for finding a flower mn for [name_f]Stella[/name_f] to unite the sibset.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f] (whimsical like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], maybe too much?)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] (love how sophisticated this sounds, and adds a more formal sound like her sisters)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (playful)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (pretty, but I feel the sound is a tad harsh)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] (lovely imagery, I remember the smell of [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] blossoms on starry nights from my childhood)
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Petunia[/name_f] (playful and old fashioned in a good way)
I think my favorites are [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] From pp. From your combos, [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is better than [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], but you could switch to [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] to keep the sound and add a botanical element.
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
Either way, what a lovely set of sisters!
I think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is better if you are going to call her [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and your husband has a negative association with [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I think [name_u]June[/name_u] is fine for a non-[name_u]June[/name_u] baby. I do love [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] from pp to keep the flower theme going. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] does seem like a filler to me. I also think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is usable.
Other ideas:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
This is cracking me up because My oldest middle name is [name_f]Rose[/name_f] ([name_f]Camille[/name_f]), my middle daughter is [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and my youngest daughter’s middle name is [name_u]June[/name_u] ([name_f]Louisa[/name_f]). So chose [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]…just so we could be twins (haha but I do love it).
I equally like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
I prefer [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] with your other daughters’ names, even taking into account that she would mostly be called [name_f]Stella[/name_f] (which makea a darling nn.) I think you raise a good point about allowing her more options as she gets older by going with [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].
If you do decide to go with [name_f]Stella[/name_f], which is still a lovely name, here are some flower name ideas for the middle!
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Daffodil[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Anemone[/name_f]
I like both [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I slightly prefer [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] because of the “es” sound, but I think in your case [name_f]Stella[/name_f] sounds like a better choice!
I think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is lovely, but what about [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], that way she’ll have a “botanical” name like her sisters.
I also thought of [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] ([name_m]French[/name_m] for daisy) as an alternative to [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], with the [name_m]French[/name_m] flair of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].
Finally maybe [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f], of what you like in [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is that soft “es” sound.
Best wishes as you prepare to welcome your new daughter!
I think [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is the perfect bridge between the styles of your other girls’ names, and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is stunning, so that got my vote! An adult [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] came into my work the other day and I had to take a second to admire how chic her name was and how well it suited her, so it’s been on my radar recently. Best of luck choosing!
Definitely [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is much too old and tired. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is just darling!
I voted [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] but I am really liking [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] as I mull it over. [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is pretty fabulous with the sister names!
Thank you all for your thoughtful input! It’s helped- and my husband has come around on the possibility of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I’m more torn now!
I voted for [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. It seems like a very wearable name at any age. Plus, quite frankly, no one is going to ask your kid’s middle name that often, or birthday date past the first few years.
My hairdresser’s name is [name_f]April[/name_f], and her birthday is in [name_f]May[/name_f]. She thinks it’s quite funny, if that helps.
If your husband is coming around to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], take it and run with it! [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is magical!!!
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Estella[/name_f]? Then you have the best of both worlds and it’s a beautiful name!
