I have loved [name]Stella[/name] for a long time but I have recently thought of maybe using [name]Estelle[/name] (or [name]Estella[/name] but mostly [name]Estelle[/name]) instead. What do you think? Which is your favorite and why?
I like [name]Stella[/name] the most. [name]Estella[/name] just isn’t pretty to me and [name]Estelle[/name], while nice, is very old ladyish to me.
[name]Stella[/name] is very pretty and fresh in my opinion.
I like both [name]Estelle[/name] and [name]Stella[/name].
[name]Estella[/name] has long been a favourite of mine, as I’ve always been strangely fond of the character in Great Expectations (I think it was [name]Jean[/name] Simmons’ portrayal of her that did it for me). [name]Estelle[/name] would be my second choice, as [name]Stella[/name] reminds me of [name]Stella[/name] Artois, though I don’t know if you’ll have that association.
Coincidentally, I just logged in to ask about a middle name for [name]Estella[/name]. I hope you don’t mind, ha ha
[name]Estelle[/name] if you don’t mind some old lady flair, lovely
[name]Stella[/name] is my favorite
[name]Estella[/name] just loses something for me and I can’t exactly pinpoint why, it just feels excessive to me.
I adore adore absolutely adore [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Stella[/name] can still be a nn for [name]Estelle[/name] if you wanted and though [name]Estella[/name] is nice for me [name]Estelle[/name] is more classic and stylish for some reason
I love [name]Estelle[/name]. I like [name]Stella[/name] too, but I feel like [name]Estelle[/name] is more substantial.
I like [name]Estella[/name]. I think it is cute.
- [name]Estelle[/name]. It sounds classic to me and you can use [name]Stella[/name] as the nn.
- [name]Stella[/name].
- [name]Estella[/name] (maybe I prefer the sound of [name]Estrella[/name])
I’m all about [name]Stella[/name]. Would definitely name my daughter that, had the SO not turned down the name since he doesn’t like the beer. The other two seem old lady to me.
[name]Estella[/name]- my favourite (largely because I share pp’s fondness for the Great Expectations character). It has a pretty, complete sound for me. Plus, you get extra possible nns of [name]Estie[/name] and [name]Etta[/name].
[name]Estelle[/name]- Prefer it to just [name]Stella[/name], but it seems a little dated.
[name]Stella[/name]- seems a little nicknamey to me, verging on scullery maidish, and it’s also very trendy. I also have negative associations with the Streetcar Named Desire character and the beer.
1 [name]Estella[/name] nn [name]Stella[/name]
2 [name]Estelle[/name]
3 [name]Stella[/name]
I really prefer [name]Stella[/name] to [name]Estella[/name]. I just recently met a little 4 year old girl named [name]Estella[/name], and everytime I said her name it seemed awkward, almost like a mouthful, like it was just too much and maybe just a too “grandma-ish”.
But I do like [name]Estelle[/name], it has a better feel that [name]Estella[/name], it isn’t a mouthful and it has a more modern feel.
Out of the three I personally like [name]Stella[/name], but [name]Estelle[/name] is pretty good too.
[name]Estella[/name] is my preference with [name]Stella[/name] as a nn. It is beautiful, classic name.
I like [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Estella[/name], but not [name]Estelle[/name] very much, like others said, it seems a bit outdated.
[name]Stella[/name]. I like its directness, its crispness, its starriness. In [name]Estelle[/name] and [name]Estella[/name], the starriness is more hidden.
[name]Estelle[/name]. I’m still mad at my husband for not letting me name our daughter [name]Estelle[/name] 2 months ago. I went to the hospital thinking that would be her name. He had agreed to it before she was born, but changed his mind at the hospital.
My next fave is [name]Stella[/name], but it could easily be a nn for either [name]Estelle[/name] or [name]Estella[/name]. I agree with the other poster who felt [name]Estella[/name] was “too much”. It also has more of a Latin feel than [name]Estelle[/name]. For someone else, that might be why they prefer it, but I thought [name]Estelle[/name] worked better for me, since I have French heritage.
