I’ve seen a poll about this one on nameberry. Since I like both of them and having hard time choosing one, I’ve decided to post a thread. What do you prefer and why? Thank you!
I prefer [name]Estelle[/name]. I’ve always loved -elle names and [name]Stella[/name] seems a bit nicknamey to me. [name]Estelle[/name] seems more refined and sweet to me, too, and I love its versatility (Estey, [name]Stella[/name], [name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ella[/name], etc., are all such cute nns for it… while with [name]Stella[/name], all you can really use is [name]Stella[/name]. Maybe Stel or [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name]…).
I prefer [name]Stella[/name] by itself. [name]Estelle[/name] feels old to me, but [name]Stella[/name] seems cute and fun but still mature.
I prefer [name]Stella[/name]. I wish I had a specific reasoning, but I really don’t. I guess I just like the sound, spunk, and flow of it [name]Stella[/name] better. [name]Estelle[/name] to me sounds more grown up and is hard to picture on young girl.
In the FN spot I prefer [name]Stella[/name]. [name]Estelle[/name] was my grandmother’s name, so I associate it with an old lady. But I do like [name]Estelle[/name] inthe MN spot paired with a more modern FN (my cousin named her daughter [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Estelle[/name], which I love).
[name]Estelle[/name] - I personally hate [name]Stella[/name] but I know I’m virtually alone on namberry with this opinion! It’s just so harsh, brash and low class sounding to me :S Sorry! [name]Estelle[/name] is lovely though.
Well watch [name]Estelle[/name] take off now that [name]Princess[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] of [name]Sweden[/name] has used it for her daughter.
[name]Estelle[/name] is a sweet pretty name and [name]Stella[/name] is a spunkier and less sweet girl’s name imo.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Stella[/name]…not so much with Estellle. [name]Stella[/name] has a spunky cute feel for a little girl, and ages well into a sophisticated classy woman. I confess I am a little bias, we are planning to name our little girl due in [name]May[/name] [name]Stella[/name]. GL!!!
Honestly I like them both, so I really couldn’t choose. But I’d say [name]Estelle[/name] just because then when she is older she has the option of [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Elle[/name], etc.
I love them both. Perhaps, name her [name]Estelle[/name] and use the nickname [name]Stella[/name]? [name]Estelle[/name] sounds classy and put together and [name]Stella[/name] sounds spunky. Either way I love the two names and good luck on deciding.

[name]Stella[/name] just seems to be the kind of name that is perfect for a little girl, perfect for a teenager, perfect for a middle aged woman and perfect for an old lady! It ages well, in my opinion.
I’ve never really liked [name]Stella[/name]. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s perfectly fine, it just doesn’t pull me in. I guess it would be better said that I’m indifferent towards [name]Stella[/name]. [name]Estelle[/name], however, I like more and more every time I hear it! I don’t know what it is, but I’m really starting to love it!
My name is [name]Estelle[/name] and I love it.I was named after my great great grandmother. I always have even when I was called smelly stelly! Lol! I didnt meet another [name]Estelle[/name] until I was about 15. I get [name]Stella[/name] as a nn all the time, along with stellie and just stell and I dont mind that at all. I love the name [name]Stella[/name] and would love to have it on my list but its just not possible. My middle is [name]Marie[/name] and one of my fondest memories from when I was a kid is of my mother singing to wake me up on a saturday morning ‘[name]Estella[/name] [name]Maria[/name] lift your sleepy head’.
So yeah, my fav is [name]Estelle[/name]. Its classic and beautiful.
I like [name]Estella[/name] more than either, but between the two I like [name]Estelle[/name] more.
I prefer [name]Estelle[/name], I don’t like the sound of [name]Stella[/name].
I love the french [name]Estelle[/name] more. [name]Stella[/name] is pretty, but i just don’t get the feeling.
[name]Estelle[/name] is classy, gorgeous, and I also like the ‘elle’ names.
I think both are so pretty. I can’t pick a fav.
I prefer [name]Estelle[/name] simply because I hear it less often. I really like both, though.
I am personally not a fan of [name]Stella[/name] Either! It’s not a bad name, just nms. I think [name]Estelle[/name] is really pretty! You can even use stella as a nnand get the best of both worlds!
