Without knowing how to pronounce it, I’m going with “not at all.” It also brings to mind the pattern.
Knowing how to pronounce it, I also don’t like it. It has a great meaning, but way too wordy and pronunciation will be issue for many non french speakers. I strongly prefer other names on your signature.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you say it?
The first thing that came to mind was the word “toilet” in [name_m]French[/name_m], sorry!
Though it could work as a middle name
Sorry it really seems like toilet in [name_m]French[/name_m]
I second this. But I also don’t know how to pronounce it.
It’s pronounced “eh-TWAL”, more or less.
I think it’s fine for a middle. I like the meaning, but I don’t find the sound particularly attractive. [name_m]How[/name_m] about Estée or Astrée instead?
Étoile is beautiful! And yes - I would keep the accent. It should give people a clue how to pronounce it properly.
I think it would work best as a middle name, and could be really graceful if paired with a balanced first name.
I don’t understand the association with toilet at all, really. I mean, it’s a [name_m]French[/name_m] word with a beautiful meaning! I don’t think the [name_m]French[/name_m] look up at a sky full of stars and think of toilets…
I’m [name_m]French[/name_m], and I don’t think [name_f]Etoile[/name_f] is easy to wear as a first name, at least in [name_f]France[/name_f].
[name_f]Etoile[/name_f] doesn’t make me think of Toilette. [name_f]Etoile[/name_f], Toilette, [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] share the same letters, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Toilet is the first association even though it is a pretty sound.
