Etta or Ivy?

Which do you prefer: [name_f]Etta[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]?

I like:

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

(Note, I adore two -y ending names consecutively, always with unequal syllable amounts, e.g. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], et al.)

Personally I prefer [name_f]Etta[/name_f]! Unfortunately whenever I hear the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] I associate it with the itchy poison rash. Although it is a widely established name which helps with the association, I just am super allergic to [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] so to me it doesn’t sound like a positive thing to name a child after.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] is my favourite :two_hearts:

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] is such gorgeous name with a cool sound she feels like she belongs in a jazz club playing the saxophone! Honestly [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is just fun I absolutely love [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. Whereas with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] I think she’s pretty but trendy shes only going to become trendier and I’m not a massive fan of very trendy names.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f]!

I have negative associations with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] though so maybe biased, but [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is just beautiful

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] is so feisty and cool! I love both [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f], with a slight preference for [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] – such a spunky combo.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is my favorite you have.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] is more unique than [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is still a great name, but it blends in a lot with Ava/Eve/Eva. A benefit to [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] though is that not a lot of names shorten to it, whereas a few popular names can shorten to [name_f]Etta[/name_f] (Violet, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], all the -et names really). Both good choices, just some things to consider.

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

I kind of want to steal it and use it myself, but alas, it’s yours. You have very beautiful taste

I love [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is getting pretty popular. I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Etta[/name_f]!

They’re both really pretty names! I think I prefer [name_f]Etta[/name_f] to [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] just because [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] seems to be gaining a lot of popularity right now!

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is my favorite but [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is beautiful too.

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] gets my vote.
If I had to pair another Y ending with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] I would pick [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is really beautiful!

I love both honestly but I really love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]!

I like both. I feel that [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is hard to say in my accent - it doesn’t flow well. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is fab but the popularity is putting me off lately. What about [name_f]Ettie[/name_f], [name_f]Etty[/name_f] or [name_f]Iva[/name_f]?

I like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but Etta’s so fun and stylish! I love all the combos, but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] really emphasises Etta’s playful side imo!

[name_f]Janey[/name_f], I want people to use my suggestions! :two_hearts:

Definitely [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]! [name_f]Etta[/name_f] feels incomplete/ too nicknamey for me.

Ivy Matilda is perfect

I love [name_f]Etta[/name_f]! [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] has so much charm

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] (although I prefer the [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] spelling!) and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are all so gorgeous!

I like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] but the -y endings throw off the flow for me.

I love [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] most
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] second
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] third
