Etta?! Pretty or dowdy?

I just can’t decide what I think of [name]Etta[/name]. It’s got a cool, vintage even hipster vibe but how would it fit in the suburbs? Would it be viewed at pretty and class or dowdy and weird? What do you think?

Additionally, my name is [name]Emma[/name] is naming your child a name so similar ok? As in [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Etta[/name], [name]Ella[/name] or [name]Emily[/name]. [name]Just[/name] wondering!!

I like [name]Etta[/name]. It’s pretty and classic. Honestly people name their kids all kinds of strange names these days so [name]Etta[/name] would be just fine. I think it’s okay that your name is [name]Emma[/name] and you like [name]Etta[/name].

I may be a little biased, because [name]Etta[/name] is my grandmother’s name. I think it’s beautiful and ready to come back as a refreshing alternative to [name]Emma[/name] or [name]Ella[/name].

I like it.
It’s a bit more interesting that the more popular [name]Ella[/name].

Very pretty, not dowdy at all!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Etta[/name]! Something like [name]Violetta[/name] or [name]Julietta[/name], nn [name]Etta[/name], might make it less similar to your own name. Although honestly, I don’t think [name]Emma[/name] with a dd [name]Etta[/name] is any weirder than me having a son named [name]Asher[/name].

I love [name]Etta[/name] – both as a name it its own right and as a nn. I find [name]Etta[/name] to be much more substantial than [name]Ella[/name], given that T is such a strong letter. I’d enjoy meeting an [name]Etta[/name]. (That said, personally, I’d used [name]Julietta[/name], nn [name]Etta[/name], to get double the name and more options.)

I like the idea of mother and daughter having similar names. However, there could be a few mix-ups, now and then, such as when the names are called out from a distance.

[name]Love[/name], [name]Etta[/name]! I had a great Aunt named [name]Etta[/name] [name]Mae[/name]

I really love the name [name]Etta[/name]. Absolutely nothing ‘dowdy’ about it. It’s pretty, simple, classic, and carries at least one lovely namesake–[name]Etta[/name] [name]James[/name]. I especially love it as a nickname for [name]Henrietta[/name].

I love it. It’s my favorite nickname for [name]Loretta[/name], my grandmother’s wonderful name. Wish I could use it but my sister has had dibs on it forever! [name]Etta[/name] is very pretty on it’s own, too. But how can you pass up [name]Loretta[/name]

I love it! It’s great as a stand alone name and even better as a nn, as previous posters have said.

I am in love with the name [name]Etta[/name]!

Very pretty!

[name]Etta[/name] is stylish, but weird. At least to me.

Its gorgeous! Go for it!
