Etta?

Is [name_f]Etta[/name_f] to close to a sister named [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you automatically think of [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] or the song “At Last” when you hear it? Thanks!

No, I dont think of either of those. They are a little matchy but I kinda like it. Is [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]/ will [name_f]Etta[/name_f] be the full name?

Yes, those are the full names. I have a [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and baby girl #4 is due in 8 weeks. I really like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] but everyone keeps telling me my other names are nicknamey and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] doesn’t fit that great with my sibset. I’m trying to make myself love something like [name_f]Etta[/name_f].

I have a [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] (full name [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] though) and in your shoes I wouldn’t consider [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for another child (although it is lovely). It’s like having one child called [name_m]Will[/name_m] and another called [name_m]Liam[/name_m] in my eyes.

I love [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]! I wouldn’t worry about matching your other girls names, they’ll all grow up to be individual people and she might go by [name_f]Viv[/name_f] anyway!

There’s lots of other names that I think will go with your three girls if they do need to match:

[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]/[name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bea[/name_f]

I love [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]! And she fits just fine with your sibset. Dont let people talk you out of it if you love it!

I think [name_f]Etta[/name_f] would be perfect with your girls. And it’s fine with [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]. And I think most people now a days dont even know who [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is.

I know who [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] is (my family listens to a lot of [name_m]Blues[/name_m]), but she isn’t the first thing to come to mind. I know a girl named [name_f]Etta[/name_f] and my mind didn’t automatically make that connection.
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f], aren’t super-duper impossible to use together close (it helps that [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] aren’t your only two kids). However, they are still very close, especially since they can both can be nicknames for [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]. I think that while only namenerds will notice the shared etymology, others might notice the same middle letters (which is less obvious than shared beginning sounds).

(I’m sorry for all the parenthesizes.)
