What do you think? Be honest and please give me a reason!
[name]Eulalia[/name] WHAT? [name]Mae[/name] … What would her first middle name be?
What would you name her twin?
I know it’s a stretch but could [name]Lila[/name] work as a nn?
Thanks,
[name]Polly[/name]
P.S. It’s my great-grandma’s name, I think it’s old fashioned without being too frilly! Oh and my hubby loves it…as long as we call her [name]Lila[/name] most of the time
[name]Eulalia[/name] is definitely unique. [name]Lila[/name] doesn’t seem like a natural nn to me though, you’d have to force it.
Unrelated though, i saw your previous post and the names you had [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Lila[/name], were really quite beautiful and i remember reading that and being in awe of how great they sounded together but also individually too. Are you still considering them?
I am considering everything! hahha…but I definitely want a cute nicknamey name. However, as my husband, our boys and I all go by nn’s, I feel as if we have to give girls nickname names too!
So if we go with [name]Sadie[/name]…she will be [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Evie[/name] will be [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Emmy[/name] will be [name]Clementine[/name] or [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Edie[/name] will be [name]Edith[/name]…
But really, it’s all still up in the air! And it’s stressing me out, I’ve lasted this long but I’m almost contemplating finding out what the twins are…then we will know where we are at!
Thanks for the feedback though, sorry for the rant!

I like [name]Eulalia[/name] a lot. I love [name]Eulalie[/name] and [name]Eudora[/name]. Practically ancient southern name- so old-fashioned it seems edgy. For a first-middle, I vote for continuing the old-fashioned thing, or the country thing, or maybe a virtue name that’s meaningful to you.
Totally a matter of opinion but i find that [name]Sadie[/name], [name]Emmy[/name], [name]Lila[/name], [name]Edie[/name] and even [name]Evie[/name] are all names that stand on their own. I understand that plenty of names come with natural nicknames anyway. But i don’t see the point in naming one thing and then only being known as another.
Names like [name]David[/name]-[name]Dave[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]-[name]Ben[/name] [name]Jessica[/name]-[name]Jess[/name] (just examples) have natural nicknames but [name]Isadora[/name] to [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] to [name]Emmy[/name] [name]Eulalia[/name] to [name]Lila[/name] just seem too much because they aren’t natural nicknames at all. If you want them to be known as those names then just name them that, their honestly lovely.
[name]Eulalia[/name] is a really pretty name. I like the meaning a lot too. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to use it as it would sound very out of place here… but since it’s also a family name for you, it has even more meaning!
I don’t see [name]Lila[/name] as a nn but [name]Lia[/name], [name]Lili[/name], or [name]Layla[/name] would seem natural to me.
I love [name]Eulalia[/name]…I think its so beautiful and melodic! I also considered it along with [name]Isadora[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name] I like lulu as a nn also perhaps not the most instinctive but I think [name]Lila[/name] works too…laia is probably the most instinctive! I think [name]Eulalia[/name] and [name]Isadora[/name] could work as twins (lila and sadie) I adored the combo [name]Eulalia[/name] plum but I know its definately not everyones cup of tea! [name]Eulalia[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is pretty or [name]Eulalia[/name] [name]Isaura[/name] [name]Mae[/name]… good luck!!
I love this name. I used to go to dance school when i was a kid and one of the older girls was named [name]Eulalia[/name]. I’ve never heard it since, so it is certainly unique. I held onto it and always said i’d name my daughter it one day. The spelling does cause a few people to furrow their brow, but once they take it syllable by syllable, its not so hard.
I think the natural nn for me would be [name]Laila[/name] (pron. [name]Layla[/name])
I love [name]Eulalia[/name] “yoo-lay-lee-uh” wth the nn [name]Layla[/name] but since bf is Latino his family would say “oh-lawl-yuh”. It’s OK but I wanted a little [name]Layla[/name] or [name]Eula[/name] pout
I never figured out a mn. [name]Eulalia[/name] is a lot of name, so something short like [name]Mae[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Jane[/name], etc may be best
