I’ve recently discovered this name and I think I’m beginning to really like it, even though it is not the sort of name I usually like. I love that it has associations with peace and the meaning well-spoken is quite good too. It was the name of a Spanish martyr who burned to death for refusing to renounce her faith (it’s a sad ending but she obviously had lots of strength and courage) and is the patron [name_m]Saint[/name_m] of [name_f]Barcelona[/name_f].
But I’m not sure about how it sounds.
I really like the sound – you-lah-lee-ah – It’s sort of flowing and sweet and [name_f]Lolly[/name_f] is an adorable nickname.
“To talk well” is a great meaning for someone who comes from a family of singers or things like that. It’s a sweet name. If you don’t like [name_f]Lolly[/name_f] as a nickname, [name_f]Lia[/name_f] is a normal nickname for an unusual first name, [name_f]Lala[/name_f] is sweet for a little girl, Ulie (like you-lee)
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] is beautiful. I say it you-lay-lee-ah. It’s elegant, stately, and old-fashioned-chic. Clearly feminine but weighty rather than flighty. I could imagine it on an English duchess or countess, or the wife of a wealthy American landowner, from the 1800s.
If you’re ever in [name_u]London[/name_u], be sure to have a look at the beautiful pre-Raphaelite painting of her in the [name_u]Tate[/name_u] [name_m]Britain[/name_m].
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] is beautiful… very feminine and delicate, Conjures lovely imagery… A gentle, intelligent, kind lady… seems like a good name for a baby as well as an adult.
The only pick i have is that it wouldn’t really suit if she’s a tomboy… But the nick name possibilities make it super accessible, while still being creative… I love “[name_f]Lolly[/name_f]” or [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lilo[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]… so many possibilities!
Thank you for the responses everybody I hadn’t expected so many positive ones but it seems that the majority of people like it? I think it’s going on my list
This was my main worry with the name. What about nn Lalie ([name_m]Lay[/name_m]-lee)?
