Eva - classic or trendy?

I know it’s been increasing in popularity in recent years, but I still view it as a classic name with a lot of beauty. But will it be a name that dates her to a child of the 2010s in future, or be a perennial classic?

Also, how likely do you think the nn [name]Evie[/name] is?

I think it’s hard to say whether [name]Eva[/name] will stick around or bottom out. I could see all of the Ev/Av names being associated with this time period, as it is such a dominant sound. Then again, [name]Eva[/name] is used in classic literature, and thus could appeal to parents in every generation.

I thought the use of [name]Eva[/name] was pretty trendy until I found out I had a great aunt [name]Eva[/name] born around 1900. Now I think of it as more of a classic name. As t nicknames, I think [name]Evie[/name] can be avoided, definitely. My friend plays a character on our website named [name]Eva[/name] for about eight years and no one has ever called her [name]Evie[/name].

I love the name [name]Eva[/name] so I may be biased but I think it is a very classic name! It’s one of those names I wish people would stop using because I don’t want it to become über-popular!

[name]Eva[/name]'s beautiful. A good friend of mine is using it for her daughter, and I think it’s more classic than trendy. [name]Evie[/name] as a given name is trendy.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Eva[/name]! I see it as more classic than trendy–the lowest it’s ever ranked is 362 in [name]America[/name], and that was in 97. It seems so classic and beautiful and refreshing, despite the popularity of [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] names.

[name]Eva[/name] is so short already–I would think you could avoid the nn [name]Evie[/name]. I do like [name]Eva[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name], but if you don’t like it, it seems pretty avoidable. I mean, it seems pretty pointless to use a nn for such a short name already.

[name]Eva[/name] is a form of [name]Eve[/name] so I think it’s a pretty classic name. I would be more inclined to say that [name]Ava[/name] will be associated with a certain decade than [name]Eva[/name] ever could be. [name]Evie[/name] is nickname that is currently trendy in some areas of the world (eg. [name]England[/name]).

I see [name]Eva[/name] as more classic than trendy, especially since it will never reach [name]Ava[/name]‘s heights, so I don’t think it will be as timestamped to this era. If you’re very worried about the two names’ similarities, though, you could consider [name]Eve[/name] which is further removed from the ‘trendiness.’

I would say that [name]Eva[/name] is a classic that is trendy right now. It’s gone up 275 spot in the past 15 years but it never got that low. I pronounce [name]Eva[/name] with a long E and [name]Evelyn[/name] with a short E so [name]Evie[/name] wouldn’t be a logical nn for [name]Eva[/name]. My grandmother is [name]Evie[/name] and it’s short for [name]Evelyn[/name]. If I heard [name]Evie[/name] I would assumed that’s what it was short for.

I think its a classic, its very beautiful

Erm, how are you saying [name]Evie[/name]? Because most people I know say it like EE-vee. So [name]Eva[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name] makes perfect sense. [name]Evie[/name] said like EV-ee is done, but it’s not as common as EE-vee, from what I’ve heard.

My name is [name]Eva[/name] and I was born in the late 1990’s:) I am the only [name]Eva[/name] in my whole school and honestly love my name! I was named after my grandmother [name]Eva[/name] which has always made my name special to me. Sometimes people get my name confused with [name]Ava[/name] for some reason but to tell you the truth it doesn’t really bother me. I think the trendiness of my name skipped my generation. Also I have never in my entire life had anyone call me [name]Evie[/name]. The only nickname that I remember is I got called E sometimes when I was little. [name]Hope[/name] this helps:)

Classic, I think. It’s got history and pretty constant use, even if it’s currently on the way up. [name]Ever[/name] way it’s a very pretty name. As for the nickname [name]Evie[/name], it’s most likely going to come up, but at the same time if you don’t want it it’s pretty easy to shut down.

Yeah, I’m talking about the EE-vie prn. [name]Evie[/name], usually pronounced that way, is a top 10 name in the UK, and I’m not a fan of it as a given name at all. I might use it as an occasional nickname but I wouldn’t want people thinking her name is [name]Evie[/name], as I find [name]Eva[/name] much more classier and nicer.

I want to love [name]Eva[/name] I really do but for some reason I can’t. I think it may be the whole [name]Eva[/name] Longoria association. I think I prefer [name]Ava[/name] to [name]Eva[/name]. With that being said, I don’t think it’s trendy at all. It’s a very classic name that will age very well. I also don’t think you’ll have to worry about the nn [name]Evie[/name]. [name]Eva[/name] is such a short name already, there is no need to shorten it even more. Maybe she will acquire a nn that doesn’t have anything to do with her name. Good luck.
