Eva or Mabel? Help us choose!

With your help, we have decided on the name [name_f]Frances[/name_f] for one of our twin girls! However, we still can’t decide what to name the other twin. Now we have to decide on a name that goes with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (our older daughter) and [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

A lot of people posted on my first thread about using [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] with [name_f]Frances[/name_f], but we don’t want to have names with the same beginning sound.

Our choices now are [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. We love both names! I feel like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] won’t really go out of style (it’s never been outside of the top 1000 in the US like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]) and it’s more of a classic than [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. We love the nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f], too. I am worried about [name_f]Eva[/name_f] becoming too popular as well as a little [name_f]Eva[/name_f] getting confused for an [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is more unexpected and has a lot less chance of becoming popular, but I feel like it will go in and out of style. We like the nicknames [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].

So, which should we choose: [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f], although [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] would have been perfection imo. I never liked [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] has always been a favorite of mine. It is popular, but classic

[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] sounds so lovely.

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] for me! I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are great.

Then again, I’m incredibly biased–[name_f]Eva[/name_f] is one of my favorites. I’ve tried to get the appeal of [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], but I just can’t. I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sort of sways the feel of your whole sibset, too–[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are timeless, but [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] are more vintage.

Good luck!

Another [name_f]Eva[/name_f] vote here! Although as a previous poster said, [name_f]Eve[/name_f] would be my #1 choice. Definitely biased though as [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] are our own top choices for girls. Beautiful either way though!

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] is not my style, but with the criteria you listed, I think this is what will work best for you.

Both names are lovely, but I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is the best choice! As much as I like the [name_f]Eve[/name_f] names, in my area there are a lot of [name_f]Ava[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f]/[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f] little girls, and people often seem to be confused among them all - both in spelling and pronunciation. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is fun, less expected yet on-trend, and gorgeous! It’s a perfect fit with [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

Thank you for the responses so far! I think that [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is probably our front runner right now since it does fit all the criteria we have, but my husband really loves [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and I think he’d have a hard time letting go of it.

I love hearing your opinions so keep 'em coming!

My favourite is [name_f]Eva[/name_f], I think she sounds better with [name_f]Frances[/name_f] : )

I would say [name_f]Eva[/name_f] for all the reasons you mention - [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] runs the risk of sounding ‘old’ at some point, while [name_f]Eva[/name_f] never would.

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. I detest [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].

I’ve never considered [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] before but I think it’s great with [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f], they are all quite antique Victorian names and would make such a cute sibset! [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is a lovely name but there are so many similar names in the top 100 at the moment ([name_f]Ava[/name_f]/[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f] etc) that I don’t think it has the same ‘wow’ factor as [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

I far prefer [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is classic!

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] is fine, but way overused.

They sound quite different to me. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] sounds like a seductress to me whereas [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sounds like a comfortable granny or a cute little girl.

I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] goes really well with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is beautiful too but to me seems more trendy.
