I love a good nickname!
So naturally I love the nm [name_f]Eva[/name_f] for [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f]. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is nice too.
So would you pronounce [name_f]Eva[/name_f] as “Ever” or “Eeva” given the full name is [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f]?
I personally would pronounce it like eh-va, but ee-va makes sense too. If you can get ee-va from Evelyn, I don’t see why not from Evaluna.

I’d say ever in this case, even though I normally pronounce it as ee-va

I would say ev-uh-lou-nah!
@AmyVermeersch Yes this is how I pronounce [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f]. I just wondered if the [name_f]Eva[/name_f] was Eh-va given the name [name_f]Eva[/name_f] on its own can also be pronounce Ee-va
Oh! I answered the wrong question then
If I just saw [name_f]Eva[/name_f] by itself I would pronounce it ee-vah. However, if I already knew their name was [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] was their nickname then I would pronounce it eh-vah. So I guess it would depend for me!

I say ava-luna, honestly, and would therefor pronounce [name_f]Eva[/name_f] as [name_f]Ava[/name_f].
But if I meant an [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eva[/name_f] who said eh-va-luna, then I would say [name_f]Eva[/name_f] (and Evaluna) that way.
I would pronounce it Eh-va-loo-nah therefore I would pronounce Eva as Eh-va.
My normal inclination would be to pronounce Eva as Eh-va, even without knowing it’s a nickname for other names.
@eileithyia?
If I saw [name_f]Eva[/name_f] on it’s own, I’d pronounce it as ee-vuh but if I knew it was a nickname for [name_f]Evaluna[/name_f], I’d pronounce it [name_u]Ever[/name_u]
I say Eh-vuh-LOU-nuh, but I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] as ee-vuh or eh-vuh is fine for a nn. Evaluna’s a wonderful choice, and my favourite nn is [name_f]Luna[/name_f].
Thanks for your input.
It’s funny because I think it depends on your native language. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband comes for a Latin country and he didn’t even consider ee-vuh and went straight to Eh-Vuh.
I posted this on another forum and had a whole bunch of comments that were like why put the.names [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] together if you are just going to use [name_f]Eva[/name_f] as a nm anyway. Not sure how I felt about that
