I want to add [name_m]Evander[/name_m] to my list. I have really been loving it. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think its too associated to [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield? I think thats why it never came up when we talked names for naming my son [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m] but my husband is a huge sports fan and some names evoke a specific athlete to him. I was really surprised he liked [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] without bringing up [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] quite honestly!

I had toyed with the combination [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] recently and like it but it doesn’t please me reversed as much: [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_u]Logan[/name_u]?

[name_u]Logan[/name_u] is one that I liked but it got too popular and “played out” for my liking. Plus a best friend had mentioned wanting to use [name_u]Logan[/name_u] although now he says he’s not having kids. But if he changes his mind, I want him to have the name he loves so [name_u]Logan[/name_u] just doesn’t feel right. Plus I think for me, [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is the gem here!

Middles for [name_m]Evander[/name_m]?

Does it work with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? I feel fine about both boys’ names starting with E. I also have been considering [name_u]Easton[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] name also starts with E; I like E names though! Thoughts?

I don’t know who that is. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is the king [name_m]Evander[/name_m] from the Aeneid.

I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m], and I love the nns [name_u]Van[/name_u] or [name_m]Anders[/name_m]!

I do think of [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield (and his bitten ear!!!) but I don’t think the association is too strong and is fading with time. I was young when the ear biting fight occurred but I still remember people talking about it since it was so crazy! For me the association just makes the name sound athletic. I don’t know much else about him anyway. I think a lot of people above the age of 30 in the US would know of him, under that maybe not so much… Sounds great with [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]!

I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m]! I also have no idea who [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield is lol. I imagine people would only think that if they were obsessed with sports.

I think [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] work great as siblings. [name_u]Easton[/name_u] goes well with them, too.

I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] but wonder if it flows since [name_m]Evander[/name_m] ends in R and [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] starts with R. Dang! That would meet so much criteria for me if it worked!!!

Yes the ear biting thing was so crazy and thats the only reference I have to [name_m]Evander[/name_m] in life is [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield. [name_m]Ive[/name_m] never met one or read any works with the name or seen any television show or movie with [name_m]Evander[/name_m] as a character even.

But I still like the name and could get past the association since it was so long ago. And yes, I’m old :joy:

I really like [name_m]Evander[/name_m]! It’s one of my favourite names. It’s a great blend of familiar and unusual. [name_u]Logan[/name_u] is NMS but I think [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_u]Logan[/name_u] has good flow.

I know who [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield is (though I don’t follow boxing so I’m not familiar with the ins and outs of his story, other than the unfortunate ear-biting incident). To me he seems like a fairly benign association so I don’t see it causing problems?

I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and have never heard of [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield. It’s a great name - rugged and charming.

Evander [name_u]Logan[/name_u] is nice.

Evander [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] came to mind

Can you use a middle starting with R or is that too taboo? Also is [name_m]Evander[/name_m] too similar to [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]? Thats our God daughter’s name and I dont think its a big deal at all but not sure if my husband’s friends would think they are too similar.

Easton is snooty sounding.

I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and think it is fine with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].

I know [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield, but it’s time to broaden this great name’s use.

I think you could use an r middle name with [name_m]Evander[/name_m].

Evander and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] are close but not so close that it’s weird or feels like you were copying

I’ve never heard of [name_m]Evander[/name_m] Holyfield (btw I’m below 30) I love [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and he works quite well with [name_u]Elliot[/name_u].

I think a shorter middle name pairs best with [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. Such as …
