Husband and I both love these two names but can’t make up our minds. All we’ve been calling our daughter [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] the past months are [name_u]Angie[/name_u] and [name_u]Angel[/name_u] to the point where these in practice have become her names - which is why we’ve been seriously thinking of changing her name from [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] to either [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] which we feel we love more and are more fitting with her. She’s 14 months old. I also opened a thread to receive advice and opinion in this name change on the baby names page.
I prefer [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]! [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] isn’t my style, somehow, though I do love [name_f]Angelica[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]! If you call her [name_u]Angie[/name_u] and [name_u]Angel[/name_u] and feel these names are more fitting for her, I think you are smart to change it!
While 14 months is usually kind of old for a name change, if you’ve been calling her [name_u]Angie[/name_u] for all these months and she responds to that as her name, I think you’re fine changing it. As for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], if you’re going to use the nickname [name_u]Angie[/name_u], I would recommend using [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] as it just makes more sense as a full name for [name_u]Angie[/name_u] . Both of the Evangelines that I know (a 2 year old and a 6 year old) go by [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
Thank you for the comments so far. It is very difficult for us to choose which one, both names are equally beautiful and both have wonderful associations.
Would you consider keeping [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and using [name_u]Angel[/name_u] as a family nickname? It is not unheard of to go by a nickname with family that has nothing to do with one’s given name.
Please help me choose, everyone!
I much prefer [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] better, [name_u]Angel[/name_u] fits better with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] then [name_u]Angie[/name_u] but [name_u]Angie[/name_u] also works in an unexpected way! If you like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Angelina[/name_f] better I say go for it!
I love both [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] (though I prefer [name_f]Angelica[/name_f] to both) so it’s hard to choose… I am leaning slightly towards [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], actually. Though either way would be beautiful:)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is beautiful. I dont like Ang names. They seem dated to me.
[name_m]How[/name_m] am I supposed to choose? I have [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] on my short list and my middle name is [name_f]Angelina[/name_f]. ^^" think I’ll just talk about both names. Sorry for being no help (but still want to reply).
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is very beautiful and dainty. It has one extra nickname possibility ([name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f]) than [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] too, personally I like [name_f]Evie[/name_f], so that’s a plus. However, maybe there will be people who automatically call her [name_f]Evie[/name_f], instead of your preferred [name_u]Angel[/name_u]/[name_u]Angie[/name_u]. It is also getting more popular nowadays. Not mega popular, but still, you’re likely to meet other little Evangelines than Angelinas.
I disagree with anyone who said Ang- names are dated. But then again, I don’t give a shit about dated issue. [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] is very lovely. It is used less nowadays (which is actually a plus point for me), and [name_u]Angie[/name_u]/[name_u]Angel[/name_u] is indeed the most natural, intuitive nickname.
I prefer [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] over [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is so much nice than both, but if you are set on changing it, I would definetly go for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
What about [name_f]Angeline[/name_f]? Slightly different than [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] and more similar to [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
Thank you for your insight [name_f]Luneth[/name_f]! It’s good to hear from someone who has [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] in her name. You’re very lucky! At this point I do think I’m leaning more towards [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], but I really want to be sure. We have to choose the definite name with no more regrets. I do love [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] for all those reasons you mentioned.
I prefer [name_f]Angelina[/name_f]! I think it is beautiful in a more enduring way - where [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] seems to be a bit of a current trend name.
Also for the sake of your daughter starting to develop language- if you want to keep using [name_u]Angel[/name_u] and [name_u]Angie[/name_u] it would be helpful for these to relate to her real name - [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] - in a concrete sense.
I think both names are beautiful, I just prefer [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] =]
I think the fact that [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] rhymes with ballerina is super cute, actually lol
I love both names, but since you are caling her [name_u]Angie[/name_u], I’d go for [name_f]Angelina[/name_f].
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Angelina[/name_f]. It is on my long list as I love the imagery I get from the name - Ballerinas and stars/universe.
If I am right on the previous thread you said she ‘twirled’ around? That is the type of girl I see it on, I girl that twirls around in her room/lounge room for no real reason or to dance to music in her mind. I also think due to the NN [name_u]Angie[/name_u] [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] fits the bill perfectly!
I personally prefer [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] but both are beautiful names ”
