I really love the name [name]Evangeline[/name], but am not in the slightest bit religious, and so I was just wondering whether it’d be deemed sort of innapropriate for me to use this name in the future?!
I dont think so i know a non religious person who named there kid mary. i think thats the same thing.I was obsessed with the name [name]Evangeline[/name] for a long time and i am not religious.
I don’t think it would be an issue, either. I don’t think of this name as “religious” really at all…I just think of it as gorgeous!
I don’t think of it as a religious name, however, if you were called [name]Mary[/name] I would associate that with Christianity.
I love [name]Evangeline[/name], so feminine.
I’m going to disagree, and say that while I think [name]Evangeline[/name] is gorgeous, I personally can’t ignore its religious tone and associations. To me, it’s 100% religious.
Good luck!
I think you can use it despite not being religious. I don’t think the religious connotations are all that strong, personally. I know an devoted athiest who has an [name]Evangeline[/name].
I’m an atheist and I absolutely love the name [name]Evangeline[/name]. I never associated this name with religion at all.
I can see why this name concerns you as having a religious tone but I wouldn’t worry about it. There are plenty of names that have religious meanings that are given to children with out religious parents. Some meanings of names mean different things in different languages. My daughter [name]Kira[/name]'s name means “dark” in Celtic and and “sun” in Persian.
lol, [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] actually means “The Good News of the [name_m]Lord[/name_m]”! Closely tied to the evangelical church. Maybe she’ll help to convert her Atheist parents?
