What do you think about the name [name]Evans[/name] for a girl? It is a family name but has always been used for males. If we went with it, I think her middle name would have to be pretty feminine. Any ideas there?
Also, I love the name [name]Everett[/name] and have always wanted to name my future son that. But if we don’t have a son, could I make [name]Everett[/name] a girls name? Again, I feel like she’d need a pretty feminine middle name. [name]Even[/name] more so for this one.
Sorry, I don’t like either as a first name for a girl. Since [name]Evans[/name] is a family name I think it would be fine to use it as a middle name. I have known several ladies who have used their maiden name as a middle name for their child, girl or boy.
I dislike the idea of either of those names on girls. [name]How[/name] about a feminized version instead-- [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Eva[/name]?
This name is so close to a popular boy’s name, so normally I would say no. But I actually go to school with a girl named [name]Evan[/name] and Nameberry says there’s an actress named [name]Evan[/name] [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Wood[/name]. So yeah, I don’t like it, but I don’t hate it.
I don’t like [name]Everett[/name] for a girl at all, but maybe if I met one I’d be more open to it.
I think any longer, a little frilly name would work as a middle name.
I think, if it’s a family name, that [name]Evans[/name] is great on a girl. Most here will disagree, but I think if you asked outside of the nameberry circle, then you would get very different responses.
Well, there is the issue of both girls having some variation of ‘eve’ as a nickname. I would try to make them both more feminine.
[name]Evanna[/name]
Evianne
[name]Yvette[/name]
Evretta
These are some pretty close compromises; I certainly wouldn’t recommend using the names as they are on girls. There are plenty of alternatives that still incorporate those names that are feminine, but if you don’t like them then I’d recommend you bump them to the middle name slot.
However, I always encourage people to do what they want and name their kids what they love. If there are no alternatives for you, use them.
Definitely not as a first.
[name]Evan[/name] is a boys name.
[name]Evans[/name] is possessive.
[name]Evans[/name] on a girl just makes me think that she’s property of an [name]Evan[/name]. Dislike. It’s self-defeatingly sexist in all planes.
As a middle, it’s fair game since it’s a family name. I’d prefere a variant, as it’s more creative and personal: Evania, [name]Evanna[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name] even.
I think it’s wonderful and I’m jealous you have a great family surname to repurpose. I’m from the South and frankly no one bats an eye at an adorable girl name [name]Collins[/name], [name]Smith[/name], or [name]Berry[/name]. [name]Evans[/name] is completely usable to me. Good luck!
If it’s a family name, then yes — I do think it’s usable. [name]IMO[/name], that’s the only reason people should use surnames as given names (for girls, especially). [name]Just[/name] se a very feminine and classic middle name, and she could go by [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Evvie[/name].
[name]Everett[/name] could be spelt [name]Everette[/name] to make it feminine. Other alternatives are Everina, Everild, or [name]Everly[/name].
It’s not really my cup of tea, however if you like it and want to use it, then go for it. I do think there are several feminine options that can be used to honor the name [name]Evans[/name] (which have already been suggested). My preference would be [name]Eva[/name]/[name]Evia[/name]/[name]Evie[/name] for a girl, but it’s your future daughter
If you drop the S, I like [name]Evan[/name] for a girl. It is actually very pretty sounding, and I feel like it works perfectly well for a unisex name. Especially if you pair it with a classic “girl” name for the middle.
([name]Worth[/name] noting that I could be a little biased about my above opinion because I lost a (male) friend named [name]Evan[/name], and pretty much think it is a wonderful name regardless of gender now.)
I love [name]Everett[/name] for a girl and have come across a little named [name]Everett[/name]. They called her [name]Eve[/name]. Other nn possibilities for [name]Everett[/name] would be [name]Ever[/name], [name]Everly[/name] and [name]Evie[/name]
I would go with something really feminine and maybe on the tad bit popular side for her mn like [name]Everett[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Everett[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
